Figured that out by mistake while tracking one. So I broke down and bought the game. I also bought a shotgun and a better scope. But it wont let me use my scope, which is frustrating since I had to spend real money on it lol. My other issue is tracking, especially a hit deer. Im color blind so its so hard finding them blurs. I changed the color to every possible option, I cant find one I can see consistently lol. But that's more my issue then anything, just wish there was a more visible way to blood trail. If I can find a way to be able to use my scope, Ill be happy.
The guns have specific scope needs, did you buy the scope that is recommended for the shotgun? I've not used a shotgun yet. I was going to suggest changing the color of the tracking markers but since that didn't fix your problem then I'm at a loss, lol.
Says its a rifle scope. I bought it for the rifle. 4-12x40 instead of the 4-32 or whatever stock is. Was wanting the extra zoom. Especially since I cant blood trail for crap on the game lol
Yeah, the rifle scopes won't work on the shotguns I don't think. There is one scope listed in the Optics section for shotguns.
Haha, the only scope that works for the pump shotgun is the red dot scope. The shotgun is good for any animal in the game so that's a good thing, just a bummer you got the wrong scope lol (I believe it's a only a x2 scope for the shotgun). Looks like you guys are making the same noob mistakes I did when I start playing the game lol. Yeah I can imagine being color blind makes the tracking more difficult. If you hit a animal good in the lungs, normally the blood spots are a lot closer together and easier to track than if you hit them in the intestines or a miss the vitals and get a body shot. My advice is let the animals get closer and the animals you can shoot with buck shot, just drill them in the face and they aren't going anywhere which will make the tracking easy haha. If you're back in PA maybe you'll be able to join my game then, I'll get you some good animals and even help you do the tracking .
If there's a mistake to be made...I'll make it...worse yet, I'll probably keep making it, lol. I got a decent moose this morning and a roe buck and an elk. For some reason I can't get a damned caribou to save my soul.
My tracking and spotting is really high on most animals, so I get a lot of info on the tracks and the spotting that you guys won't get for awhile. When I pick up the track of a animal I get a guess of approximately how old the track is and a guess of how much the weight of the animal might be. It also tells me the gender of the animal on the tracks, so I'm not blindly following a track and not knowing whether it's a male or female.
The Caribou/Rein Deer are tough to get with out the call. They're a migratory animal so they're on the move constant and seem like you never gain any ground on them if you try to track them. They also roam right off the map out of bounds where you can't even get to them, I'll take you on a hunt for them later, I got the call for them.
I'm playing this game tonight, whether the girlfriend wants me too or not. I just bought her a new set of tires and am changing the oil in her car when I get home so she better let me play lol. I wear the pants, she just tells what pants to wear and on what day. I'm sure she'll try to blackmail and tell me I won't get any if I play the game but that's a risk I'm willing to take lol.
Lol, I ain't touching giving advice on that situation with an eleventy foot pole. I have the rattle call for the caribou but it was like not using it at all. I had a few far shots at some but missed but I did finally get my 30.06 skill to level 2 and that has helped a bit. I think most of my problem was that I still had on my gillie suit rather than winter gear. I'll try for them later, I'm back to deer, lol. I just nailed a 178" monster whitetail! I'll be playing it a lot so just let me know when you want to go. I should be out working today but it was 10F here this morning and currently 20F so I'm probably going to keep playing on the desktop until it warms up more outside, lol.
Lol I get home around 5 PM eastern time from work. So by the time I get home and change the girlfriends oil, get washed up and eat dinner it will probably be around 6:30-7 and I'll be on.

I got one of the free deployable towers this morning. I added some funds and got the free tower and bought a bunch of other guns and equipment, lol.
