Taken last Saturday in Jefferson County. 730am 22 yard shot. Sitting on a narrow strip of woods separating a corn field and hayfield that then leads into a large bedding area behind me. I was watching a young buck that has awesome potential (70" basket 2.5 year old with 6+ inch split brows) when out of the corner of my eye I see a tree shake. I shift focus and see antlers. He's about 45 yards off in the brush. I'm tucked in 20 ft up in a 3 trunk tree and have a make a split second decision on which side he will come In. I go ahead and draw before he commits. I made the right decision and he followed a doe grunting the whole way into a 22 yard broadside shot. Pull until I hear the click, stop him with a light meh, and finishing pulling until the shot breaks. Surprised the s&%t outta me. I see the arrow sticking out, and he takes off crashing. He makes it about 90 yards. My first deer with a hinge release and I love how it forces me to slow down. 185 pounds dressed.
