During the Steelers - Jets game they ran some anticipation ads to be continued Feb. 6th. According to the thread link below, anticipation ads just string people along and they don't belong in marketing. I wonder how many customers they'll lose because of this terrible campaign? http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=17990
Hard to say...... As long as they don't string us along, and then drop a watered-down modelo on us......I think they'll be fine.
I mean...my girlfriend likes Bud Light... And good things happen when shes happy....soooo they didnt lose my $ Plus i thought they were kinda cool
What has this world come to? Previews for commercials. I'm sure it'll be a good one though. I hope Geico and Allstate make some new ones for the superbowl too. "Recalculating!!!" :D
I am waiting for the day that the tobacco companies can run commercials on tv! They can have Brett Favre sitting there with a big drooling dip in his mouth. "Got Dip?" I also hope that the medical marijuana companies are afforded the same First Amendment rights as those mega beer companies and are allowed to show some dope smoking right on primetime tv! With the combination of alcohol, cigarettes. chew, and weed, our kids are really going to be doing great!
Actually, I thought it was genius. Run the lead up to your commercials during the championship games, then you can run a shorter (cheaper) ad during the superbowl & show the conclusion. Brilliant!
I bet some other companies will see the anticipation and rush to put another product on the market that's not quite as good as "budweisers." We all know that with "budweisers" quality and performance in the past their's will be the best product coming out. Refuse to follow "budweiser"
Not to be confused, I like and believe in anticipation marketing. It obviously works or major corporations wouldn't use it. Heck, a few years ago when Outback advertised their 17 spice seasonings for their steaks, I HAD to go find out how good they were and whether or not I could figure out if it was better than if it only had 16 spices. :D
You're a different breed of consumer, Pat. I honestly don't recall seeing a Budweiser commercial, yesterday. And, I don't remember the Outback campaign. Different strokes. The problem with anticipation ads is.....if you don't deliver (after stringing people along)....you look like a total fool. Melodrama, as a consumer, is a huge turnoff.
I didn't see the commercial but if they are going to make a beer that doesn't give me the farts then I'm all for it...
I pay attention to marketing, always. It's what I live for and I learn a lot from others. Don't get that confused with that I buy into it every time because I don't, I just pay very close attention to it. Sometimes I drive my wife crazy with my comments about a commercial or magazine ad. I tell her when I was in the service I was taught to pay attention to detail. In ther latest Strother Archery ad I pointed out to her they spelled axle to axle incorrectly, they spelled it axel to axel... Please don't tell me you don't see Under Armour logo's EVERYWHERE you look these days? :D
