This one is kind of out of curiosity, but can anyone tell me the advantages of shooting a hand-held release as opposed to a wrist strapped? I was recently looking into purchasing a hand held just for kicks until I checked the price and almost had a heart attack; there has to be something significant about them with upwards of $100 for a chunk of metal.

I like that it is not connected to my wrist while hunting. That alone is worth the $100 I me, nothing worse than the release hitting every little piece of metal and making noise. It is also more comfortable for me, easier to get a more consistent anchor point, also.

that's what i seem to hear people saying is that the anchor feels better to them, but i guess i would have to shoot one to really notice a difference.

I shoot a hand held at tournaments and wrist strap hunting. I shoot better with the hand held when shooting with perfect form. Hard to get perfect form in a tree stand.

I seen on Dominant Bucks that hand held are more accurate because of form that you cant get from a wrist release.

I use the wrist strap because I can't lose it. What I do though is use electrical tape to build up the release so it is almost like having a hand held as far as anchoring goes. Definitely more consistent for me.
