Way to go foothill hunter. I didn't draw a thing this year. I will get a OTC archery tag for elk. Wreckless, That is good news. You get a 30" buck you better show it off on here
I don't know how well you can see it, but I made a single point sling out of a couple old dog collars and an old tie down strap. The bow still tips down, but it's easy to move back. It's nice and close to my body. I did catch a little flak from the mrs. because I bought my pack to not carry my bow around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The pink disconnects real quick and it's tightened up so it sits on my hand. I haven't shot since I put it on. I might shoot a little tonight or tomorrow before my appointment with the VA.
The sling didn't work as I hoped it would. The top kept spinning around and when I spun it around, which worked for walking, it knocked my sight loose. I'll tighten up the sight and make sure that I am still am zeroed. I am contemplating taking some weight off the limbs and see if that helps bring my groups back in tight.
When I went to tighten my screws on my sight, I realized that they were too short. Thanks to maxpetros for suggesting getting longer ones from the Home Depot, my sight is nice and tight. I lowered my d loop and rest a little bit to level my arrow and provide some room for adjustment when it comes time to broad head tune here in the next month or so. After tinkering for about 30 minutes, I'm dialed in at 20 yards an comfortable at 30 yards. I want to look up how the React sight works with its "smart pin" technology on pin spacing and see how close that gets me to comfortable at 40, 50, and 60 yards. Then I just have to tell myself to stop tinkering and leave it alone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i have the trophy ridge react one sight and love it. it was so easy to sight in and its unreal how fast you can shoot even out to 100 yards.
Picture of tonight's sunset, and wind that's whipping through. I looked up the React One sight. Looks slick! How do you like it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I took the dog for a walk Saturday night and strapped my bow on my pack. It felt comfortable. I was able to do a little over two miles in about 30 minutes, so I need to get out and walk more. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out if I want to carry my pack until about 100 yards and drop it or use my modified sling on the stalk.
I went to the range and my peep is still twisted, so it looks like another trip to the pro shop. I'm working on resetting my center shot my bow. My sight is all jacked up from the screws coming loose. Good thing I have a few months until season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks. Very nice. Trying to get back into the bowhunting mode. We had an awesome experience on our mission trip this last week.
Looks like I'm getting out scouting for the first time on Friday. I don't know where we are headed yet, but we'll be headed out.
Of course. We're talking about going up by some campgrounds and moving around in there and possibly talking to our big buck ranchers.
No scouting deer today. I started my morning scouting the toilet. But after crashing most of the morning, I did need to take a trip to town. I got my string twisted and my peep centered. Depending on how I'm feeling, I might go out and work on it a little bit this afternoon.
I was trying to get in the bowhunting mood and cruising through my collection of Peterson's Bowhunting and found an article called the "10 week plan". It is basically a training guide to "maximize your shooting skills". I'm going to start, seeing how I have about 12 weeks until the season starts. Week 1 is "Getting the right gear", which is basically getting comfortable with your set up. And while I am comfortable with my set up, you've got to start somewhere. Week 2 is surprise release. Week 3 & 4 is shooting for strength. Weeks 5 & 6 is focusing in making each shot count. Weeks 7 - 9 is stretching your skills (distance shooting) and Week 10 is getting in your gear, including Broadhead tuning. I'm going to try and shoot every night after I put the kids to bed. Here's to night 1!
