Fortunately, we don't have much planted yet. Still working on the landscaping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got a couple of spots picked out. These are our two target areas. Pearl Creek if the weather holds and Starvation Creek if it doesn't. SC was up by where I was last year. We are definitely starting to get anxious to get out there. We will probably get out in late September or early October. Here is another spot that we decided to check out. It's not that far from Pearl Creek.
A buddy of mine is out scouting his hunting area today and thought he'd send me a couple of pics from the scope. Makes me want to get out. Marshall and I will start our scouting in August after our travel plans slow way down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I went on a bike ride this afternoon. 2.68 miles with my two oldest and 1.98 on my own. Hopefully, I can keep on it. I feel like I'm running out of time to start getting in shape for the season. Even though I still have 142 days until opening day.
No riding today, but we've pitched the tent at our campgrounds. I brought my target up and have shot on and off today. A buddy just got a bow from his brother and he is bringing that and his kids up for the afternoon. I would say nice and quiet but we are right on the trail head. Had to make a trip back to the house after my red heeler bit a hiker. It looks like it's time to find her a better place to go. She's gotten really aggressive over the last few months. Had a nice day. Did shot shooting, mostly 20 yards. Nice tight groups. I coached my buddy through getting set up. Kids had a blast. Now I'm just enjoying the sunset and a nice warm fire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here is my best 20 yard grouping from yesterday. It was my third or fourth grouping of the morning. I couldn't replicate it that close again. All my shots remained within the black circle, however.
I'm now 4 for 4 with squirrels. This guy even let me unpack my bow and walk in ten yards. I so hope that I can get this close to a muley this fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice 4.75 mile ride to take my mind off today. I had to put my heeler down. I tried and couldn't find anyone to take her. Bummer day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just drew up the Vegas style target. I'll make a game out of my summer practice sessions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was looking at the calendar this morning and realized that Marshall and I only have a handful of days off together each month and my father in law's hunt is in a different unit. It looks like we'll have a couple of weekends in August, September and October. He has time off during the week that he can go out. I'll have to ask how he wants to go about our preseason scouting.
