Doesn't surprise me in the least. Maybe he will have time to work on his fielding he only can hit the ball anyway.
Just Manny being Manny. :D I always thought he was on drugs, but I was thinking something much stronger than juice. He's a complete dillhole.
They are all enhanced...every single player who ever hit .300 or 30 HR's from 1992 and up Thats just the facts
Caleb, I wouldn't go that far. There's a few pure hitters left in the game. Manny's not one of them. I wouldn't even come close to calling him one of the great hitters of all times. About the .300 and 30 HR thing, you can't really throw batting average in with the whole roids talk. HRs yes, average no. I do believe that about 85% of all players that are playing AA or higher, are using some sort of performance enhancing drugs, or have in the past year though.
Screw Manny! I thought him and Pedro were the biggest cancer's in the clubhouse. When your that BIG of a STAR you should act it! Glad he's gone and I would have chit-canned his ass long ago.
For the record - he didn't test positive for performance-enhancing drugs, but rather a substance that players generally take the ease the performance of NOT taking 'roids anymore. Which basically tells us he was taking the juice at some point when half the league was, got off it, and was taking this drug to battle the side effects. In any case, the Dodgers are an NL rival and one less superstar on their team only bodes well for the Cubbies when we have to play them. Good riddance I say. :D
ahh sadly this topic is so Star Oriented that it's impairing our judgement of what is talent. What we don't see is that probably as recently as 3 years ago more star athletes were taking Steroids than not. Baseball was probably like 80+%, did everyone notice the influx of Stars from the Domincan, Puerto Rico etc etc. Steroids are available over the counter in these places. They are not illegal. Bigger stronger was the key. But if 80% are taking supplements than being a superstar should be the "norm" right? No the key is Talent and God Given ability. A strong man with nominal skills is still just a strike-out victim. This so called cloud over sports is Bull, no one knows what a Aaron or a Mantle, Or Clemente was doing back in the day. So they are the "pure" players...pure to who's standards and who's testing. If they started ..really.. testing in the NFL what stars do you think would have an asterik next to there name? Who do you think would be left out of the "hall of fame". DO you think more linebackers, linemen, and running backs are clean, or enhanced? Football has a higher percentage on performance enhancers than any sport. Don't think that that QuarterBack is removed from that either..how do they bounce back so quickly? Even the NBA, those guys run miles night after night, steroids help build muscle sure, but they also increase recovery time. Let's suppose it came out that Jordan was on something. Does it make it easier to put a ball in a hoop...?? Now say Jordan was Clean, why couldn't an average skilled player takle a supplement and become a Jordan? AGod given ability and talent!) Steroids reach far far above sports. Do you think Stallone went from the Physique in Rocky to the Character in Rambo by proper nutrition and a physical trainer? How about Wesly Snipes in Blade? Yes getting caught NOW is dumb. But the off-season is where most Juice, cuz there are few if any tests then. The drugs in Manny's system where recovery drugs. Post cycle drugs, he came off to late and got tagged in spring training and they recently found HCG in his system. HCG and Clomid are drugs that help the male testicle resume function, after coming of a cycle. The myth that you male organ shrinks is only partially true..what shrinks are your testicles because if you are injecting 100 times the amount of testosterone that your body can produce naturally you don't need them putting any out. There are drugs (steroids) to help super models stay thin and tight, Runners run, sluggers slug, and actors and singers look good on stage. It's main stream, it's every where. The Media deserves a black-eye for only profiling the stars, for ratings and not reporting the true Story.
bout time they start cracking down on other sports. its basball, basketball, hockey and any other sport's problem that they are in this situation today. i like football and not saying that it is perfect but guys are tested and have been for the longest (other than the olympics). what you do expect??? what do you want? clean fair play! that will NEVER happen in a sport that involves $$$$$$$ ever again. we built this monster, we buy the tix, beer and foam fingers at the way overpriced games and we sit back and judge about how or what we want or think these athletes should do. thats what makes being a fan soooooooooooooooooo GREAT, but it is the athlete's choice/body if he/she wants to cheat. it is that sports responsibility to govern it. not the federal govt! worst yet.... it is our entertainers/actors who are the biggest users, with no governing body there, except the law, which we all know doesnt apply to them, we buy the movie tix and dont think twice about an actor making $100million for one film most of whom come out with multiple films a yr! that being said i have high hopes for a fair playing field and try and trick myself into believing that the great records im seeing being broke are "REAL" and not fueled by roids and other performance enhancers but sadly i know SOMETIMES thats just not true. thanks for letting me rant =-)
Who is likely the best baseball player of our era not to have done performance enhancing drugs? No that we can prove it.Ken Griffey Jr.,Chipper Jones? I would like to believe that some of them are clean.
I'm to the point that I don't believe any player is clean. Pujols says he has never touched the stuff....who knows? Chipper and Jr are both good choices of guys that don't appear to have juiced. I'd probably add Jeter's name to the others as elite "clean" players. But....then you have guys like Ryan Franklin and Rick Ankiel that don't weigh 175 soaking wet, and they both were named in the Mitchell Report. I've been a huge baseball fan since I was a kid, and I don't remember any period in the game with as many 40+ HR guys and pitchers hitting 99 mph+. Someone is eating their Wheaties!:d
I don't know who is clean and who isn't, but honestly... what does it matter? Fans only want one thing and that is entertainment. We (the fans) want/crave to see a guy hit .360 with 58 HR's a year, we don't care if is on roids until a positive test surfaces. It is so easy to cast the stone when these tests come out, but honestly, who cares what these guys put in their bodies as long as they are putting up big numbers. A-Rod, Manny, Clemens, Bonds, ect... these are HUGE stars that put up big numbers and they are also guys that people loved to hate.... when the roid talk started they were already hated by every person who wasn't a fan of their teams of course their was a huge uproar about them. Take somebody from the Pirates and give them a positive drug test and nobody would care because they aren't a true threat to their team. Until we stop giving these athletes so much money to put up big numbers we aren't going to have this problem go away. How many guys can honestly say that they wouldn't use roids if it meant that they went from making $700K a year to $25,000,000 a year just to hit more homeruns?
I understand what your saying, and I am not naive. It does matter to me.For me the accomplishment is not worthy of respect when it is done using performance enhancing drugs.Similar to killing a beautiful buck with the aide of a spot light. The animal may still be incredible but the manner which it was taken was cheating.
