What's up with that? I read a couple news reports..... they called it the perfect storm. Everything that could go wrong for UNC did and everything that could go right for UNLV did. Anyone heard how bad Barnes' ankle is? That could be a big loss if it's serious.
His ankle is fine IMO. He even came back in the game after the injury and played full steam. I doubt it will be anything more than a sore week for him. That said, the reports make me laugh. They called it a perfect storm of lights out shooting from 3 point land for UNLV.....UNLV shot 41%, hardly an unsurpassable feat. UNC just got exposed for their weaknesses last night. Their guards when pressured CAN make mistakes, and their bigs can play soft at times. UNC is easily top 5 this year, but to hype them as Roys greatest team ever as ESPN has done is a disgrace to the Natty C winners in 05 and 09. UNC is great, and not overrated at all. They are overhyped however. This year has 5-6 teams very close at the top, not two clear cut favorites in UNC and below them UK as ESPN likes to think. UNC will be fine, and I still have a lingering feeling they win Saturday at UK.....but as a UNC fan I would begin to worry about the teams defense. Giving up 90 to UNLV, 75 to UNC Ashville, 75 to Mississippi Valley St, and 69 to Tennessee St is a terrible start to a season. They can score in bunches, but if they don't start playing some D, they will continue to be upset by teams that get in there and play tough against them.
I haven't seen them play much.... just a couple chump games where they looked awesome and in control. I can't imagine how they got out rebounded so badly.
To be honest I like that they lost. Its good to get humbled early and knocked back to reality. Tembry is right about their bigs, they are somewhat soft. I think barnes should be ok.
I wouldn't count on it. Roy will have them ready to play. He's probably glad they lost too. Makes coaching a little easier. He yells.... they'll jump through hoops.
