I once had a social studies professor that said that Vladimir Lenin started the perfect society based on the teachings of Karl Marx. Longest semester of my life. I reminded her several times that the class was Intro to Social Studies, NOT Introduction to Socialism Studies.

You should have seen me in college...seriously outnumbered 20 to 1 in my core beliefs. I'll share just one short story to illustrate my point. I took a course in foreign relations that primarily dealt with the Vietnam War. The professor was pretty liberal, yet she was an outstanding, unbiased professor that let the facts speak for themselves. Although she had a slant on things, she would "let the best man win" so to speak when in came to debates.

One day in class we began talking about which part of the government (President, State Department, Department of Defense, Congress, etc.) was historically the most aggressive in pushing for armed conflicts. The professor started the debate with a question and then let all heck break loose for about 10 minutes before she interceded. 90% of the students ripped the Department of Defense as being the most aggressive, testosterone filled group that was most likely responsible for pushing the U.S. into the Vietnam War. I am admittedly not the best at remembering statistics, dates, times, etc, but I have instincts. I couldn't take it anymore so I rose my hand and said something like, "I bet the Department of Defense is the least likely group to push for war in most instances". Everyone started to laugh so I gave a personal story. I told them of the time I sat and spoke with the Commandant of the Marine Corps before my father's retirement ceremony. I remember him being as level headed as anyone I had ever spoke with in my life, and if the Commandant of the Marine Corps was that level headed and sensible then I could not imagine the Department of Defense wanting to push for wars like most of the students had said previously. The professor then weighed in and said the DOD was historically the department that wanted to go to war the least in most every armed conflict. The other students just sat there and looked stupid.

Warriors know what war is about and the toll it takes. Chicken hawk pieces of ****, politicians, don't have a clue. As long as they can send you or your children, and not them or their children, we will have wars. Every politician that votes for war should have to put their children on the front lines.

Politicians decide to go to war and then want to arm chair quarterback the warriors without a clue of what it takes. It's like calling a plumber to your home to fix the plumbing and then trying to tell him how to do his job when know nothing about plumbing. The big difference being, more than likely you won't be responsible for any deaths if you screw the plumbing up.

This is so true and if this were a prerequisite for them to be voted into office you would 1 see alot fewer wars for the wrong reasons and 2 there would be alot fewer people trying to get into office knowing that they have to put their childrens lives on the line.
