I was in the bow shop today and just looking at the VRX 28..Nice bow. The tech behind the counter said, " It's a nice bow, but if you are into P&Y that bow is too short to qualify any animal killed with it"...say what? I said. I looked at the P&Y regs and it says overall length must be 30" not ATA...
Odd thing for a bow shop guy to take from hearsay and not verify. Must not like selling Mathew's bows. I've been having a slight itch to get another bow, I'm leaning towards an SR6 but the VXR is in the running for sure. Curious Vabowman, that you saw something about 30" total length? tynimiller's link doesn't have the same info. Makes a person wonder if there is an old link or something that doesn't have the most current & correct info. There's nothing I can see that is even mentioned about the length of the bow, and no let off percentage is specified. They just state that they do track what the let off is. My main take away was that the main thing that might trip someone up these days is the electronics on the bow portion. A range finding sight would not be accepted, no electronics allowed on the bow except for something that solely takes video. No electronic device that can give any kind of shot info to the shooter. Arrows must be 20" in total length, weigh a minimum of 300 grains, and have a minimum of a 70+ grain BH. Would be something women or youth should be aware of.
Another rule I believe is you have to recover your game the same day you shoot it. Can't let it lay over night and recover the next morning. Always thought that was strange, but can see that there would be some instances for it. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I didn't see it. I just googled it and that's what I got. Who knows. The tech was actually a young girl, mid 20's..she also told me once that didn't condone QAD rests on bows less than 50 lbs? Take it with a grain of salt..
