Well I was out shooting yesterday and I decided to start practicing with my glass's on, On my second shot my favorite release in the world came apart. As I was drawing i felt the bow let go and pow i get hit right in my glass's and side of the face the end of the release gave way and came back and cracked me right at the bottom of my glass's and eye. I brought the release down to my archery shop and they called Scott and they said to just send it to them and they will fix it or send a new one, Way to step up Scott archery that is what makes you great.. But wow was that close i am glad i had on my glass's...
Thank goodness you're OK and its great to hear Scott is stepping up. Also thankfully you had an arrow nocked when it happened! This is yet another reason why no one should be drawing a bow back for any reason, without a nocked arrow or other means to ensure the bow doesn't drive fire. Besides the bodily injury that can happen, a release is cheap to replace compared to a bow.
Glad you're OK. Good that they're looking at fixing or replacing it... though I'd be flinching every draw with that release.
Glad you are OK man. I know how this feels. I was tuning a friends bow a few months back and apparently one of his friends was drinking and messing with the knot on his D-lop. I didn't know it. I was about 10 shots into tuning it and SNAP! right in the mouth.
I know how you feel, I have punched myself in the mouth twice because of broken D loops. Good thing you don't have to pay for a new release though
A local guy lost sight in one eye from shooting his bow. I believe it was from a peep site breaking and hitting him in the eye. He said that while they were working to save sight in that eye the doctor told him that he has treated many people with eye injuries from shooting bows. The doc said that everyone should wear safety glasses everytime they shoot.
