Being a Facilaties electrician I went to a guy's office today to replace a faulty power strip. Once I was there and verified that it was bad, I asked him for his department number so I could charge him out a new one from our stockroom. The guy goes, "Uh, just a minute. I've got it here somewhere", and proceeds to rifle through a couple of drawers in his desk. He then says that he is still relatively new to the company and continues searching. What reallly took the cake was when I spotted his 2 year anniversary card in his desk!!! 2 years and he still doesn't know what his department number is!!?? There really are people like that out there! :smash:
Wait...wait...wait...wait...wait...You have a job??? And all this time I thought you just hunted:d How do you manage to kill a big buck every year and have a job? Everyone knows thats not possible
Simple...... work for the same place for over 30 years, rack up a lot of vacation time then take the whole month of November off! It also helps if you hunt close to home so you can still hunt evenings after work. :d
I couldn't tell you the address of the place that I work for. They're some where in some suburb of St Louis. I don't even know the phone number to the place. I'd have to dig up a paystub or something. That's how much I deal with my employer. They do send me a birthday card. It's signed by people I've never seen, met or spoken to. Cool eh?
Being a facilities electrician myself, you'd think someone could replace thier own power strip. God forbid they might have to crawl under a desk!
You would hope that someone would be able to do this themselves but I'm sure you've seen the same things that I have. It was not uncommon to find 3 or more power strips plugged into each other with only the first one being plugged into the wall. Also, a lot of these office areas were built before everyone had their own PC, printer, fax etc. Add to that people bringing in their own coffee pots, toasters, refrigerators, fans, radios, desk lamps, space heaters..... you name it! The company decided to manage the electrical use through us (facilities). These office areas are wired such that two offices share one 20 amp breaker! Since we'cve taken over there has been a drastic reduction in calls about a tripped breaker!
I know it only too well. I have managed to get space heaters banned here on campus. I made a few enemies the day that e-mail went out!
You got that right! Space heaters are the #1 cause of tripped breakers in our office areas. There is no way we could ban these, there would be such an uproar that the company would rather rewire the complex!!
