Why did you aim for the neck? Not a very high percentage shot. You almost spined him. What a terrible shot.
You had to have been a fraction of an inch from his spine on that shot. I've always wondered with mechanical two blades.....depedning on the orientation of the broadhead when they open up, you could have a horizontal, vertical or anything in between slice. That might just be anough to make the difference on a kill or not.
Amen.... In 2004, the first Rob buck ( 4 x 1) if many of you remember that story... After countless wins in 3D competitions over years, I missed that buck at 16 yards.... then again at 25 yards... looking my equipement over, ( It couldn't be me) I realized the buck was still in range just out of sight in the brush, calling got him to come back into the field and at 41 yards and trusting my equipment, breath, excecute I killed that buck in the 12 ring.... Deer are not 3D targets, they move... things happend. I never chatise someone for wounding an animal, but I will if they don't follow up or take respondsibility...
People have been chastised for taking high risk, low percentage shots. I don't think anyone has been chastised for making a bad shot and wounding an animal. If Justin had been like the guy I met this summer that said he shoots them in the neck (with a bow) so he doesn't have to track them then my replies would have been different.
