I have a 3 leg doe that looks like a wound. Would it be ok to eat? My family mostly eats deer meat and can only get a few a year. I would like to take her out but would hate to waste a tag on a deer that could eat. I know that sounds awful but need to fill the freezer. I seen her once in Oct last year but that's it. She looks healthy to me... I think as long as there are no tumors, sores, or scary looking abcesses, you should be ok. I think she does need a name though and Tripod would be too cliche

You could call her Ilene, or 3rd wheel, stumpy is always a classic.

Give old tripod a shot through the heart and put her in the stew pot. Probable tender because she can't run as much. IMO she will just as good as a four legged doe.

Yeah you don't eat the lower leg anyway lol. Well maybe for burger meat I guess. Anyway, let us know how she taste.

Thanks everyone for replies. I'm going to try and stick her if can. It's got to suck for her, not to mention if she gets breed. Only seen her once last year, so time will tell

I've seen 3 legged deer in the past that get along just fine. Seen a lead doe that could outrun the whole herd with just 3 legs, also seen her try to stomp with it when she was blowing. Would've been funny but she was blowing at me. So don't do her any favors, do yourself one. She is guaranteed cagey.

Had a doe that got hit by a vehicle and damaged one front leg. Saw her for at least 4 years and she was as healthy as could be. Never did get a shot at her.

More than likely nothing wrong, I'd make sure I gave the meat in the area of that leg a close look, but even if some of that needs to be thrown away, there is still 3 other qtrs.
