Twenty says that half you over confident arrow flingers would wound it and never admit to taking the shot.
LOl, I know you post mostly for shock value and I appreciate that but in this case I'll offer some rebuttal to your dis. I'm not bothered by ethics police, nor do I sport "female parts". I simply find that to be a silly shot that I would have absolutely zero interest, let alone a need...to even risk. If I wanted to fill a doe tag, she'd never have been given the chance to lay down in the first place. Secondly, Gutpile made a great point that holds true for me as well. Thirdly, we have enough deer and I have enough doe encounters in a season that it would be stupid for me to even bother with taking a shot in that position. Could I make that shot, you bet your *$$ I could and I'd kill that deer 9 times out of 10 at least but it's the 1/10 that I'm concerned with. I've never lost a deer yet and I'm not about to risk breaking that streak by taking any shot I have any doubt about...I don't need to. I'm the local guy that everyone always calls to track their deer on those stupid types of shots, I've seen enough of them go wrong to know better than to risk it based on my abilities and stupid chance. There's a lot there that can go wrong and unless a person has it on film, it's probably not going to be very obvious where the POI was on that deer after the shot. I couldn't care less if someone wants to be macho about it and take that shot, that's their responsibility but I don't want to hear any cry babies wondering what the hell happened, why they took a chip shot at a bedded doe and couldn't find her or had to leave her overnight only to find yotes tore her apart. If I were that desperate to kill a deer, I'd just shoot them with a rifle.
Covey I understand your rebuttal, I respect your opinion ....I did say "if I was so inclined"....Meaning if I really wanted that doe I would kill her Azz with that shot and she would die....no doubt. Actually I'd watch her for as long as possible to see if something else came along. Nothing like a live decoy laying under your stand to calm other deer. But again for the record....she'd die...."if I was so inclined"
You respect his opinion by telling him he has girl parts. Apparently respect has a new definition these days. Or, .......not. She would die.............eventually.
And to lil Fletch....one day when you've kilt as many critters as I have under all the circumstances I have you might find the confidence you need to take a shot on a perfectly still deer at a very reasonable distance of 30 yards. I know thats a long ways for some fellers....to some it's just another days work
Well what do you know....yall swing off this guys nertz.....is he wrong? He's exactly right, ramming a broadhead through vitals wether it's upwards or down from a tree is still RAMMING a broadhead through vitals....the bloodtrail would be epic....and short
I will put my trophy room and total kills with a bow up against you any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I have taken game with the bow from Northern Quebec to Mexico. I have killed turkey's and grouse with a bow at well over 30 yards. Still would not need to take that shot at a deer. Thanks for the "respect".
Except I don't shoot down at deer from the top either... I don't know that I'd say anyone is right or wrong...I guess they are wrong if they take that shot and have trouble or right if they have a slick and easy kill. The difference is that Fitz didn't accuse any man of having girl parts if they refused that shot.
If you think North America is the world. Trade away. I don't belittle anyone for being cautious. I respect the trait. Overconfidence nearly always leads to failure.
I understand brother, that's your personal preference. Everyone has their own limitations and ideas of ethics. It's not like its set in concrete and written in scriptures of who should shoot and when. And about the "girl parts" comment....yall need to unwind a little.
I favored the don't ask don't tell policy...man if you favor wearing them pink silkies....enjoy it, I just don't care to know about it.
