If you can see him right in the back up against the corn is a high rack 8pointer.
Do you think he would be a shooter this fall?

hes about 1.5-2 years old and 2 years would be pushing it. if that's the case i would let him walk. bud if you like him then put him in the freezer. if this is your property and you want to manage it i would let him walk. in a few years he should be nice. that of course if he stays on the property. if YOU like him take him. :D

I would take him because here in wv I don't see to many bucks like that but if I was hunting your land and you said you want a 3.d year old or better I'd say he has 2 more years left

I know u guys are going by what u can see but copy the pic and zoom in on him. When i did that you can see how big his bases are i really think hes about 2.5 but man i really want a high rack like that. Also keep in mind those weeds are about 4' tall

Here is one more thing to consider.
That property is only 27 acres and no one around there practices QDM at all they shoot anything that walks.
It's a great funnel and bedding area but the corn you see is on about 200yards by 50 yards then the rest of the property is all thick timber and scrub brush with a small crp field in the back.
BUt again if you can copy the pic and zoom in on him I think you could judge him better

personally I would pass on him and give him a couple seasons. I know theres always the chance of someone else shooting him, but at least you gave him the chance to mature!

I wouldn't shoot him, but that's only because I have other deer I am after on my property. If he would make you happy and you feel he's something worth chasing then go for it.

I agree he is in the 2+ age group but he is not what I'm looking for. If you like him that's all that matters.

That deer is older than everyone is giving him credit for. Zoom in on the picture and you will see bases that you'd see on a 5 1/2 year old. Looking at the pictures above you will still see a narrow rack with thick bases.

Velvet is VERY deceiving, once it comes off a buck that looks like he should of had nice mass may not! Judging him by his rack only is def not the way to go, look at his neck and how skinny it is, plus his front shoulders are thin and undeveloped, def not any older the 2.5 yrs old.Hes prob in that 80-100" range. It sounds like he is what you want by what your saying, plus without others managing around you it is hard. Nobody practice QDMA around me either but I still keep my standards high bc I know thats the only way ill be happy.

You aren't letting the weed that comes along the neckline to his eye fool you into thinking his neck is that skinny are you???

    Nice catch raceway.
I said earlier to copy the pic and zoom in on him.
He is about 50 to 60' away from the camera in about 4' tall weeds.
All of the standard answers I keep reading are why I posted this take the time to look at the pic closer before you say what you have read everyone else say.
When you zoom in you can see his neck goes past that weed on his right eye and you can see how his back is sagging.
Judge a deer pic by what you see not by what others tell you to see.
Also If I can hunt this year and see him you will know how old he is. I dont care is he score 10" or 10000" Im not a trophy hunter the horns are just a bonus in my book.

Summer is a bad time to age whitetail bucks. I'm not sure how anyone could accurately age that deer from that photo.

If you want to shoot the damn deer, then shoot the damn deer. I'd tell you congrats.
