It just depends where your at in your own mind as a bowhunter. When I started out, I was happy with any deer. I shot several small bucks in the beginning. Progressively they got bigger. I'm just getting to the stage where I can let most 2 year olds and even a select few 3 year olds go ..and not feel to bad about it. I use to go with my gut, but most of these had lots of ground shrinkage. I try to really give them a good look now. There still are those that have the wow factor "no brainier " bucks. Any deer you kill can and will be picked apart by others. The bigger the buck I set my sites on ..the more years I will do with out. We can shoot two bucks in Missouri, so I try for a nicer buck during the first part of season. After rifle season, the second portion of bow ..I'm meat hunting.
just shoot what you want and don't worry about what others think.
If i could afford it, I would mount every buck I have ever shot ;)
