You would be close to me! im about 20 minutes west of there in Freeport. The Rockford area is kinda big and hard to give you good details on but if you go to a sub division like machesney park or loves park they are pretty nice, and getting bigger. so you would be really close to "Rockford"

Rockford was one of the places that popped up with helicopter pilot positions. Air Evac Lifeteam also has positions in other areas of Illinois, but down to the southwest. Another option I have been looking at is West Virginia, Air Evac Lifeteam has two locations there, both not too far from Charleston.

Let's see....since 2007, I've lived in IL. then moved to Indiana. From Indiana I went to Northern California. I then went back to Indiana, then IL, then Tx. and now back in the Chicagoland area. The west suburbs are nice. Say Naperville area and such. Traffic is like no other if you plan to live in the western suburbs. Might as well add 3-4 hours of your day just to drive the 90 mile round trip. IL. could possibly be the worst state in America to live right now. I hate it. I chose to live south of the city this time and found a nice little rual community, but it seems like all of Chicago's problems are migrating to these areas as well. I hate giving advice to people I don't know, but I just don't think I would do it if I was you.

Depends on where the job was. I would never move to Chicago, California, New York, many eastern cities, etc. No matter what the pay was.

The Dakotas, Nebraksa, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Missouri, Louisanna, Alabama, Arkansas etc. yes but then it wouldn't be half way across the country.

I would do it in a heartbeat. I know money isnt everything but double my pay would allow my girlfriend and I to get married and start thinking about a family. I make decent money but kids are expensive and I want my girlfriend to have the option to be a stay at home mom.

Ohhhh Boy. Do not move to Cook Co. if there is anything you do. At least you will know a few guys in the area but honestly I would get out of here if I could....

Maybe I missed this, if so sorry.

Is there a chance of something like a corp apt and some return trips home for a period of time? I wouldn't want to live in the Chi area, but it is a great place to work, easy to get in and out of, good hotels and restaurants. Back in my consulting days, I had a couple of projects that had me up there for about a year.

Took the gamble this year and moved from WI to KY to chase my dream job. With just my wife and I and no kids and her being able to work with the same company where she has for 20 years but transfer to a job where she works from home. It wasn't a hard decision. We are about 10 hours from family now and even worse 10 hours from a borderline booner buck on our land in WI. But so far so good.
