I remember seeing this at the Mn Deer Classic. Awesome Dan!! As for myself, nah. I think they look cool sitting around on end tables on display. No knock on anyone that wants to do It though, whatever works for ya. Just like I told Dan, awesome!!
If I had a nice set, then yes I would do a Euro mount with the Mtn Mike's Skulls. If anybody asked, then I'd just tell them they were found sheds. I also think they look good laying around. I don't think I would seek out a cape to do a shoulder mount though. That's my .02.
Now if I founda world class set like dans I may do it as well, being a shed hunter ...us guys that really love shed hunting enjoy our shed finds as much as buck kills in some ways.. I know some guys dont understand it and understandable but shedheads know what I am talking about! Man Dan that is one wicked buck! Kinda like Joeys huge set of 4x5s.. another world class set of sheds!
I wouldn't hesitate to mount a pair of sheds. It all depends on the circumstances and if you have previous history with the buck. There's no way in hell I would try to claim it as a kill of my own though... that's just stupid. There's a guy in my town that killed a buck of which he found the sheds the previous year and he mounted both the sheds and the one he killed. It's pretty cool side-by-side to compare the growth it had over the year.
I wouldn't mount one personally. Either have them laying around, or if I had a real nice matched set...might do one of those skull mounts like englum showed, or maybe a plaque mount.
There have been a couple sheds that I have found over the years that IF I would have been able to locate the other side.... you better believe I would have mounted and proudly displayed as the world class giant that got away. I have one shed that scores over 100" with an awesome kickstand club of a droptine, I would have loved to see what it looked like on a form.
