Would any of you mount a matching set of sheds you found? Me and gri22ly found a good set a couple of years ago and I have been debating on mounting them. Just wanted to know if anyone has had this done or would you even consider doing it. (That is if we don't harvest him this year, I have a feeling we will).

I would have if I would have ever found the other side to the big buck I killed in 03. I wanted to do a mount of him looking back at his previous years shed mount.. Never did find that other side... grrrr

So yes indeed if the situation was right!

    Yeah.

I did it this past year on some OLD sheds we found. Used Mountain Mike Replica Skulls actually.

They run $40 if I remember right. Quick, easy, and look good too.

Here's another one I did. This was my bow kill last year.

    Sorry for the crummy pics.

Absolutely and I know of several guys who have. The problem is finding a good cape, but if you want to spend about $100 you can have just about any cape you want.

I would not. I like the looks of antlers just laying around as decor.

That's one of my biggest dilemmas, it would be easy to lie, but worst of all I would hate for someone to assume I harvested the animal, when in fact I found his sheds. Good point Jeff.

It's a tough decision finding such a big set and we have been so obsessed with taking this buck, I don't know. I just think of all the planning, all the topo's we've covered, all the times we've tried to set up on this buck. A part of me thinks he should be on the wall for outwitting us so many times. The season is not over yet and at best he's a 61/2.

Yeah I dont think I would do it just on a set of sheds.. But I did think having my buck looking at a mirror image of himself would have been cool, not to mention it was his shed that I found first which led me to finding him, watching him and then eventually killing him, so it would have meant a lot to me personally. I looked for his other side for 2 more years really hard, heck I wont lie, every time I go into that area I get this feeling.. What if I found that sucker.. problem is by now it would pretty much destroyed!

It's not always about whether or not I took the buck. For me, these antlers are in my bedroom, where only I see them. They aren't out in the living room or the rest of the house where all of our actual kills are. I just like the looks of them on the wall. Nothing more!

My dad has a set he found back in the late 80's or early 90's, I can't remember exactly now, but he got them mounted. It's a beautiful mount of an absolute monster.

The cape is one off a 5 year old messed up rack 10 pointer he killed during shotgun season 5 years ago.

Seeing that does not help me any, that looks awful good hanging there. What does he tell people that ask. For me it would be "Yeah that's the buck that kicked my ass for 3 years so I mounted his sheds".

No one ever even saw this deer on that property, and as far as anyone knows he was never killed. The mount is purely for his enjoyment. He always said he wanted them on the wall and he finally did it.

Your right, they are mine forever and one day I may do the same. I just feel "Brow Tine Buck" has earned a place on my wall.

    I say go for it.

He also has an absolute massive set a friend gave him way back in the day before deer hunting was even popular. He thought about getting it mounted to go along with this one, but never pulled through on it.

My friends dad found a huge set of sheds with a droptine last season. He mounted those as a conversation piece. The sheds were found on his ground, so he mounted them. I'm not sure if I would do it or not, but something like that would be my only chance at a 190 on my wall LOL.

I mounted these because they are the largest set in the Shed Record Book from Ontario and when people ask, I tell them exactly that.

202 6/8" without the spread found in 2002.

Right side the next year. 106 3/8"
