I would expect this more out of someone who is an atheist trying to give people of faith a bad name, than I would think a Christian would do this. When we eat out, my wife and I leave 20-25% for good service, 15-20% for average service and 10% or less for lousy service.
That's pretty ignorant. I'm not religious or a anti but, That's not witnessing or spreading the word. That's being a cheap bastage and a dirty one at that. I wouldn't think it clever or anything. It goes in there with people that don't tip when they receive good service. If you can't afford to tip, you probably shouldn't be eating out.
I believe in God so I tip more. I know what they get paid so I always tip even if they are a crappy server. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
You guys know how I feel when it comes to Faith... I'm all for spreading the word however possible... but that is ridiculous.
Oh and just so you guys know... I worked at a restaurant for 8 years... I did every job in the joint... Waiters and waitresses make bank compared to the other workers, and most of the time... deal with less crap, contrary to popular belief. Not knocking because I've done it all... just a side note. And I'm sure this varies from place to place.
That's if they have a decent pay scale and work at a place that lets you keep your tips. Others don't even make minimum wage (wife waited tables for $2.00 an hour and had to share tips) needless to say, she was out of there as soon as she could get out. This was when minimum was around 5 I believe. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
My mother worked as a waitress and occasional bartender while she was raising me, six nights a week from 6 PM to about 2 AM. It's hard work but she did quite well. Used to have people asking for one of her tables. Doing something like that would be really despicable, but it happens very seldom. What you get is the occasional note from someone explaining that they don't believe they should have to pay extra for a meal above what the menu lists. You wouldn't want to go back to that restaurant after a stunt like that. Waitresses have good memories. No they won't spit in your food or anything, but you might have to wait a while for service. And a waitress can carry your order around for a while before turning it in to the kitchen. And your meal won't be cold but it won't be hot either. Refill on the coffee? "We just made another pot. It will be a few minutes."
There are better ways to spread a message. Not tipping is completely unacceptable. If you don't like to tip, don't eat out.
That's pretty crappy. I would certainly rather receive no tip at all than to get something like that. Religion is a funny thing. I believe religion is a good thing, it helps teach right and wrong and gives people a direction. One that generally goes in a positive direction. However, I find that the people that bang the bibles the hardest, generally turn out to be the ones trying to compensate for their own shortcomings. Growing up in a small rural church, I was able to see the hypocracy first hand. Preacher cheating on his wife, deacons cheating on their wives, stealing from church members, stealing from the church. You name it, really turned me off on organized religion.
When i go out to eat. After we place our order i total up in my head what the meal will cost then add 20% for a tip. After that i start deducting money for ****ty service and etc... But if service is great i add to it.
