sounds like you should be looking into an outfitted hunt. Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'd rather drive an hour to hunt and hunt half the time if I knew I would get onto deer, than drive 5 minutes to a hunting spot and not see a darn thing all year.
I can not remember the last time I sat in a stand and did not have a deer come by that was in bow range, and I get pissed when I only see does. I would throw in the towel after two seasons and find another hobby. I will say this I am a self taught deer hunter and I gun hunted from when I got my gun safety all thru high school. I did not deer hunt during college, I hunted after for another 3 years before I ever shot a deer with a gun in 1991. I had nothing but bad luck and mistakes for all those years. First deer I shot was in Wisconsin over a corn pile in 1991, other than that button buck I have never shot an antlered deer with a gun. My life as a deer hunter would have been a sad and pathetic story if I never bought a bow.
Same here, self taught. Gun hunted a few years starting my senior year in high school then into college. Took me three seasons to kill a deer with a gun (thank goodness my buddy had a good spot he let me hunt) and then I started switching to bow hunting around 2000. Took me three seasons to kill a deer with my bow (public land). 2005 started bow only and haven't looked back.
What public access are you hunting. I hunt public in Illinois and see an abundance of and kill deer every year. EHD has put a hurting on the herd from time to time but you are probably the first person I've heard say they have the problems you have in Illinois. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

I am spoiled most nights when I am home I watch the sun set and watch the deer move thru the pasture feeding on the way to the feeder. I know where they come from and where they go.
I was fortunate to draw a NM elk tag this year. The last time I drew was 2010. In the in between I've either hunted rifle or archery, some were PL tags in NM and some OTC as a non-resident. There are options if you look. I like hearing elk bugle in Sept to much to give it up because I can't draw.
You likely come across in person as you did here. Joining a chess club might be fun. Maybe learn to knit?
A few days ago you posted about hunting 90 days straight and having chances all the time. You said you killed a 300 lb. doe. And a big buck. So.........my B.S. meter is pegged. Bernie? Crabtree?
Umm.... I live in Dwight so I know the area very well. Have you tried the national guard public land for hunting? There are tons of deer there and if you haven't seen one there you are most definitely doing a lot of things wrong. There is some solid public land around us. As for the land owners being a**holes for saying no. It is their land they have the right to say no for any reason. Most of them already have to many people hunting their land.
