Would you fix it?

Gotta go with shed on this one. Depends. For the guys that say leave it....even if it was some real unique tine like say a 12" drop? haha

I would leave it as I shot it. If it got broken in transport I would have it repaired.

If Rob/PA paid his taxidermist to repair them he'd need a second mortgage. :poke:

    I'd leave it.

I had one repaired once because it was a very unique brow tine and I had multiple trail cam pics of the deer. I have a buddy that does amazing work and he offered, so I let him. He used all the photos and did a great job replicating it. I just boiled out the skull but I am glad I had it fixed. Not sure I would do it again, probably depends on the deer and the history with him.

Just shot a buck this year with my rifle that I've had numerous trail camera pics of, that tine made him an absolute perfect ten point, and from the pics, I can tell what it looked like, so I am having it fixed. That perfectly symmetrical rack was one thing I loved about the buck, and when I got up to him and seen he broke off a tine, I knew without even debating over it I was getting it fixed.

My wife killed a buck this year that we had tons of trail cam pics of up until a day or two before she got him. When we recovered him, he had broken a tine off when he crashed. The break was absolutely clean with ZERO dirt, grime, etc. in it. I've left it up to her whether she wants it fixed or not and she hasn't decided. In this type of case, I'd personally get it fixed.

I killed a buck last year that had every tine on his right side broke off from fighting I assume (they weren't real fresh breaks), not to the beam but not far from it. I never had him on trail cam so I had no idea what he looked like before so I did a euro on him as he looked when I found him.

Just as I shot it ... so if it broke of AFTER the shot, I would get it repaired

Happened to me this year. I've got quite a few pics of a deer that had a 3" kicker coming off the base of his main beam on his right side. It's the main reason why I wanted to kill that particular buck. I named him Kickback. He wasn't the biggest and certainly not the most mature buck in my area, but I just thought that he was pretty unique. I took him on Halloween morning. Unfortunately he broke that kicker off and half of his left brow tine. I'm going to have the kicker fixed but not the brow. Here's a few pics of the many I have of him.

No I would not but I am kicking around the idea of getting a hide to have my very first
bow buck kill mounted. I currently just have the rack mounted on a plaque.

I am not for or against it per se, would depend on the situation for me.

DD nice buck....how come you aren't getting the brow fixed also?

I'm not fixing the brow because I normally wouldn't fix any broken tines. I'm fixing the kicker because it was the sole reason why I wanted to kill that particular buck.

Gotcha. See now for me, if that was my buck....and my sole reason for killing it was the kicker - if I got the kicker fixed, I'd also get the brow fixed. Especially since you have the pics and history with you...you know exactly what it looked like prior.

Nice buck again, cool rack :)

Depends on what it was... I don't think I'd fix a deer but my friend just shot what would have been a potential B&C goat if it's other horn hadn't been shot off with a rifle bullet a few weeks before. I'd definitely get that fixed on a nice 1/2 body mount.

My buck from this year has 3 broken points not to mention the ends of the main beams look chipped. I have no desire to have them fixed. As a matter of fact the thought never crossed my mind until asked by a friend.

I was happy with his rack when I shot him so I don't see the need to change it. It may be different if the breaks happened after the shot. But I think this buck has some character with them busted points.

He stays the way i shot him. If i want a perfect buck i'll wait for one, i'm not gonna make one.

Let him stay the same...unless he breaks them off on his death run. I have let a very very nice 8 walk 3 times this year, he had everything in tact on camera several times. He even had all his tines 3 days before i saw him in person for the first time. Now he sports a broken main beam and 2 broken points on the other side. I did not shoot because he does not interest me now, had he kept everything he would have died 3 weeks ago at 17 yards.

Shot my share of mess up racks don't ya know.

I'd never fix one unless it broke "after" the shot... remains as in.

This one was shoulder mounted as is. ( was proud of him. It was the year I snapped my Achilles and hobbled my way to and from the fields.

I got a 21" 10 point that was an 11 pt (broken brow) I will get fixed some day after I get it officaly scored. I have a shoulder mount of a 9 with a broken brow and G3 that will stay that way.
The big wide rack just looks ugly with the broken brow, I can live with the 9.
