I’d meet with the land owner. I would kindly express my concerns over the legal ramifications of the new guys hunting out of your stands. What if one of your stands malfunctions while a new guy is hunting in it and he falls and breaks his neck? Is the landowner responsible? Are you? I’m no attorney but I’d bet the answer is both of you are. Then I’d talk to the new hunters and make sure they understand your concerns. As long as everyone stays calm and rational you may end up with some new hunting buddies. Who knows?

I would have great concerns about some stranger hunting out of my stands no matter who’s land they were on.

I'd be mad. Mostly over him telling the guy to hunt your stands. Don't care if he's the landowner or not, THAT is a d*** move.

I've gotten permission on a number of places thinking I'm the only one on the property then while walking to my stand run into someone else who it turns out has permission also. I ask now if I'm the only one hunting the area just so I know what to expect.
About 5 years ago, I got permission to hunt this older womans land knowing that someone else had permission before me. I ran into the guy and he said his kids were bowhunting the property but not during shotgun season. For a couple years I stayed away during bow season, but then I was walking the property during spring season scouting for turkey and I found 4 of the kids' stands. All 4 had soda and soft drink cans and bottles under their stands. I talked to the woman and she already knew about it but didn't want to kick them off because they mow her fields. She said she had no problem with me hunting during bow season, so at that point I said "screw them" and for the past few years I've hunted there whenever I want. I heard thru the grapevine that they're pissed at me but I've yet to run into them

Id be upset but its his land.... However I would talk to the new guy and let him know how much work you've put into the land and the deer. Ask him to please be respectful and see what he has to offer. He may be a stand up guy that you really like.... Or not, lol.

I would also probably ask him not to use my stands unless he calls me first, because I may be on my way there to hunt...

The frustration of "Leases" put some work in and time to make property better and others want in out it or will come around flossing big money that they little guy can't compete with. Hate this feeling but I've been dealing with this for a couple years now too. Just have to let him know how you feel.

Pissed, yes, but you have to understand the farmer's side of it. Never put passion before principle. I would just talk to the farmer and see if you can get exclusive rights moving forward. I personally wouldn't want someone using any of my stands, cameras, equipment, etc and I would pull them all, but that's just me.

i just had the property I hunt bought, and don't know if I can even get my deer stands out.... I say be dang happy you have a place to hunt! I put work into my place, hunted there close to 30 years (since I was a young kid) food plots, patterning, you name it. killed more deer back there than I can count, and in one night it's all gone. be happy. sharing isn't a bad thing.

as far as the other dude using your stands, yeah thats wrong.

Have you talked to the new guy. Might be a hell of a guy . Maybe new to town.Or just needs a place to hunt, just like you. He is probably willing to help you with those plots that draw in deer that become a nuisance to landowners.;)

Not your land, so give it a chance before you get upset.

If you find it is not a workable situation, offer up cash for a lease or move on down the road.

Yeah I would be pissed, but such is life.

Luckily, I have some land of my own but I also have some other places that friends allow me to hunt for free.

I was told many years ago that if you don't own it, the day will come when you won't be able to hunt it anymore.

So i kept a cool head about the whole situation....just don't feel like I was given the respect I deserve for being the only one that's kept up that land for almost a decade...I told the farmer my concerns this evening and he mentioned to me that he to thought about it after he gave the guy permission and called him back and told him that he would need to speak to me before entering the property and basically its my call on feeling him out....ill give the guy a chance for sure as I have no problem sharing the grounds as there is lots of room...my main concern was not knowing him his background or if he is going to respect the land the equipment and the game that i work hard to maintain....I'm curious to meet him...hopefully everything will work out and we can be BBD texting eachother in no time....thanks for the input gentlemen
