I hunt from the ground quite a bit and have always pondered this scenario. I believe I would and just hope like hell he took off in the opposite direction.

I've only killed them from tree stands but I wouldn't hesitate to take a blackie from the ground given the opportunity.

I would, but I would be very meticulous about my shot. Probably more so than with any other quarry. The. Again, I'd have to hunt bear to know for sure lol

I would actually do it ....only because the crap in my pants shouldn't interfere with the shot :D

ummm...great question. I can't definitively say yes or no. Has anyone missed while attempting this shot? If so, did the bear run towards you, or away from you haha.

I have hunted bear from the ground many times in NM.... sadly I haven't sealed the deal yet.... Guess its because I don't have private land and food plots to kill them over........... damn public land

I love chasing bear at eye level

I have backpacked the JMT in the Sierra for 25 years. They are nusciance pigs with fur. I have smacked them on the nose with a fishing rod. No big deal. Grizz or an x wife? Fear factor.

Thats the only way i hunt bears, black bear hunting is one of the easiest hunts there are for bowhunting, where i live most bowhunters shoot a black bear before any other big game animal, they are easy to spot and stalk, really fun to hunt.
