This one time, I joined this bowhunting.com forums site to get advice....
As others have said cutting a dead deers throat is pointless it doesn't drain any excess blood and does nothing for the quality of the meat. My grandpa and dad both do it I guess it's a old school thing.
Doesn't matter what direction the wind is blowing. This one isn't really hunting advice but if you want your deer to cool faster leave the hide on.
The worst advice I got was to buy my deer feeders online from China
Oh that is awesome!!!!! One of the funniest pictures I've ever seen!
I just hope I never run into this...
I think it depends on if people are field dressing or Skinning and hanging. We skin the deer while hanging and then gut the deer. While hanging the blood can pool up in the bottom of the chest cavity. I don't want a pool of blood sitting in my deer so we will either saw open the ribs to allow everything to drain or slit the throat to allow blood to run out.
As for the original question. Probably anytime someone says you might as well stay home in this weather. You'll never shoot anything tomorrow. Usually in good conditions and non hunters are saying that to me.

"Tuning your bow is a waste of time and doesn't do anything"
If I had a nickle..
"Forget the wind, just hunt."
"As long as you get up 18' or higher in a tree, cover doesn't matter." BAD advice!
use a Rage. any hit will kill em.
never look a deer in the eye. you'll get busted.
bucks taste terrible.
wash to carcass with water.
Deer don't move after 10-11am anyway...
"" "" "" "" Before 3-4pm...
Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
Not that I've believed that for years anyway, but this past season I probably saw more bucks on their feet between 10a-2p than dawn-10a and 3-dark combined. I saw a 6 point or bigger between 10a-1p every time I was in the woods.
Tree harnesses are a waste of money. To this day I still hear it.
Also hear...why use one if your hunting a ladder stand. Never understood...
Worse one I heard was :
''If you don't have a clean shot, shoot in the arss, it's a lot easier to catch them when they are wounded''
"When you get above 18 feet high it dosnt matter which way the wind blows."
2#"Never pee close to your stand it will spook deer for days."
3# Deer cant be that smart.<<<came from a nonhunter.
I hope this is a joke. haha
I have actually had alot of good tips from the guy that got me interested in hunting. The only thing he told me that I came to find out on my own was inaccurate advice was "dont use a long stabilizer keep the sight as close to the riser as you can so it doesnt get hung up on brush". Well it turns out. the only time i am bushing threw that much brush is when i am actively stalking deer. and when that happens I have a arrow knocked. The arrow sticks out pretty far. after i started using a long stab and sight with a 8" dove tail and still had no problem. I brought this to his attention. Now he uses a 14" stab. It was a good feeling to be able to give advice to someone that already has so much knowlage of hunting, and has help me alot already. kinda like returning the favor.
I dont know many people that hunt, but i have been blessed by crossing paths with a few people that know a lot and love to share what they know.
many of you a BH.com have been great help as well. and I thank you.
