So I got in my tree stand in good time the sun wasn't up yet so I had a feeling it was going to be a good day. I was so wrong. I see a doe at about 7:00 it was a nice doe and we needed meat so i was gunna shoot. I stand up to shoot and the platform of my ladder makes the loudest clanking noise ever. She stops in her tracks and looks right at me and takes off so no shot. Then i see nothing the rest of the day and the wind was terrible. Its about noon and i decided to climb down and get some lunch. Go to lower my bow down and the string was tied to a clip so we can just quickly clip on our bows without having to tie. That clip decides to break and my bow falls 20 feet and luckily doesn't get all messed up. Then it starts raining. Worst hunt ever so far...

How bout u guys? Got one that was worse then that???

That's pretty bad. However, one evening a few years back I'm hunting out of my "lucky" stand and conditions are perfect. Everything is going good. Weather is cold. wind is light and in my face. The light was fading fast and I was getting ready. Had my arrow knocked, release attached and was ready to go. I did a small sequence of buck grunts 10 minutes earlier. Soon I heard some walking to my right. I was shocked to see the biggest buck of my life, a 12pt monster walking right down the path where I needed him too. I stood quietly, drew back my bow and CLANK, my bow his the stupid gun rail. that buck vanished as fast as he could. My buddy shot him three days later out of that same stand. I could tell you about the time I went to stand up to shoot a buck and my grunt call fell out off my lap and hit the metal platform...but the moral is, bow hunting is hard it will break your heart some days and put you on cloud nine others. Hang in there my friend.

I had one time where it was getting dark and I had been in the stand for 3 hrs up to then without seeing anyting. There was about 45 min of daylight left but I had a sore butt and wanted to going. I climb down the ladder, start walking back towards the house and a HUGE 12 pointer leaps out of the brush behind my stand :busted:. If I had stayed in my stand about 10 min longer he would have come around where I coulda shot him

This happened to me several years ago... As the sun started to touch the tops of the trees I stood up in the shooting blind, took my bow down and attached my release. I had seen alot of deer that afternoon, four does came into the food plot from my left put their heads down and started eating, they looked like 4 combines cutting a field, they ate their way to the end and left. As the golden hour approached I turned my sight pin light on. Just as I dropped my hand 2 does busted into the field at 15yeards standed head to tail. The one facing left was looking back over her shoulder and the one facing right was staring straight ahead. They were acting very nervous so I knew a buck was chasing them. Sure enough the biggest buck I had seen to that date comes into the field. The does bolt running to my left and stop. The buck lowers his head and starts after them. He is going to pass about 5 -10 yards in front of me. As I draw my bow the arrow catches on some netting making a very small noise. But thats all it takes! He takes a hard left stopping 20 yards from me but I have no shot. TIME STANDS STILL. He slowly makes his get-a-way. The gig is up. The hunt is over.
As I walked out into the food plot I got the biggest smile on my face. The sunset was absolutely beautiful, the fall air was so chrisp, I could hear the little animals getting ready for the night, I could smell the earth and the pine sents. I dont think I have ever felt more alive. And as I walked out to go back to camp all I kept thinking was I want one more chance, just one more chance!

For me today was the second day I spooked 5 or 6 deer. I was watching 3 or 4 doe to my left(hoping they where coming in) but they didnt and I was to focused on them. So when I turn back around(very slowly) I hear two and see two other doe 20 yards to my right, blow and then take off! I had the samething happen to me a week ago! One do came in on my right watched her come in about 20 yards behind so trees when I start hearing something behind me to the left. I go to look and its 5-7 doe staring at me. They blow and take off! lol its only my second year hunting but I guess I have to live and learn. I also missed 4 doe this year so I hope this makes you feel better lol. I started practicing way more and while I practice compund I bought a crossbow so I can at least get some meat in the early season. But I do have a 3pt and a 5pointer coming in at 630am I never hunted in the am and once I get a chance where I'm not working in the am I will try and go out, which should be wednesday. Anyway goodluck to you bro I bet you'll get one soon no worries!
