I know many of you guys have built your own or purchased work benches for your archery.

I am ready to and have the space in my "cave" to put one in.

Are there any specifics that you could share with me that I need to consider before tackling this concstruction. Thanks in advance! PICS WOULD BE GREAT!

I have about 8-9 feet of wall space, I would like a high bench that I can sit up on a stool versus down low on a chair.. I plan on attaching it to the studs in the wall. I was thinking about cabnets below part of it..??? Because I have elk and deer antlers above where its going so there will be no room above.. Right now I have an arrow saw no bow vice as of yet..

LOL Fran, if you look under redundant in the dictionary it says, "see redundant".

    :whip:

Good thread Shed, honestly I was wondering about the height I should make my benches.

Shed, my benches run 8' x 2' deep. To the top of the plywood, it stands 40". This is a perfect height for my shop stools as you see in the picture. It is also a good height to stand and work on things as well. I am 5'10", so it works out nicely.

I still have some modifications to make as well as putting up a peg board on the other bench.

I am thinking about painting the legs and framework a hunter green, then stain the plywood a nice rich color. Then seal it all up.

Hopefully the pictures will give you an idea of what you might want to do with your benches. Good luck man. Make sure you show off your "cave" when you are complete!!!!

Thanks Gram, it is still a work in progress and doesn't look nearly as neat right now. It works well, still need some more archery-type tools but so far, it does just about everything I need it to do.

I was lucky enough to score on that banner for free from the local Hoyt shop I bought my first bow from. While I don't always agree with the way this guy runs his business, he was nice enough to let me have it. It was sitting in the corner of his range and I actually had the gull to ask him for it.

The Hoyt lighted sign was from another dealer that was dropping Hoyt. I was able to get a Hoyt trash can, one of the stools I have, plus that sign for a reasonable dollar. I was pretty surprised he wanted to sell it to me.....guess it doesn't hurt to ask, they can only tell you no. :tu:

There's one up on ebay right now. (Bowtech) I think they actually used to sell them on the website. They are out there. I am assuming you don't want a Hoyt one Matt.:deer:

I'm sorry Ben.. I just can't help myself.

I heard through the grapevine the other day that Bowtech has to recall all their long-sleeved shirts now.

Seems the sleeves keep falling off!

(i know.. i know.. i need to stop.. but it is a little funny):d

Bols thank you for all the pix and the layout/dimensions. I like the height and layout of your bench and my stools are about the same height as well.

Fran, please do send me any pix, tips, likes/dislikes you have as well.

I may do a split 1/2 and 1/2 bench with open room under the bench for my seating area and then put in a cabinet or two on under the other half for storing all my tools, gear etc. Like I said I have racks all over on the wall above it and dont really have anywhere else to put them.

I was also playing with the idea of buidling a Bar/work bench all in one and facing it towards my bigscreen.. So I can work mix a drink and watch the tube all at once..

    thanks again Guys..

Duke no worries... but you could of aleast thrown in your pix of your work bench??? LOL Or is it like mine.. right now.. boxes and a piece of plywood! LOL

I may use my chain saw to mill out a real nice rough cut slab of Douglas fir for my working top, fram it up with studs.. I really want to try and make a Bar/Work bench combo...

    thanks Jeff

Keep a lookout for closed bowling alleys. The laminated wood from the actual bowling lane makes excellent workbench tops.
