Ok update: Got out to my stand at 4:15. It was really windy tonight. Didnt think that I would see much and then my wife texted me at 5:30 who was also hunting at at one of my other locations. The text reads "I have a buck coming in should I shoot it?" I text her yes. i am going to put my phone into my pocket and I look down and there is a huge buck standing under me!!! Didnt hear him come in. he came from behind me through alot of really thick stuff. This is the biggest deer I have on cam. He slowly walks away from me and starts quartering in front of me. I stand up and draw. He is behind a pine at this point so he dosent see me. He takes a couple of steps into my shooting lane and I let one fly. He took a digger and then got up and tore off. I didnt see him fall. makes me think I was low. i waited for a while and got out of my stand and found my arrow. He got about 12-13" of it and then broke off the rest. I backed out for the night and I will try to find him in the am. Wasn't sure of the shot. Now I am thinking I might need a bottle of nightquil to sleep. I will let you all know in the am.
Yes she did shoot her second deer. She shot her first last year, an eight point. Great first buck. And tonight she shot a fork. Nice deer. I will post a pic of it in the morning.
With a nice cooler night, should lay down, stiffen up, and go out and get him in the morning. One question for you, any blood on the part of the arrow that broke off? Maybe hit some bone and have the arrow bounce out before it broke off?
There was blood on the arrow. It was all dried up before I was able to get to it. I feel like my shot was low and right behind the shoulder. Looks like he broke the arrow off with his other shoulder when he ran or crashed.
Good luck and good luck sleeping!! Can't wait to see pics tomorrow. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
