Most years ,good or bad I'm out every day, save electric storms or heavy, heavy snow. This will not be the case this year. I've surveyed the farms around us and cams are showing only young buck. There has been zero time to hit camp and it's been three years since I've been there. Last time one ladder stand was in a very dead tree. Probably down or stolen by now. I will do a saddle hunt at least once there though. Oct 1 is the opener I will go out just for traditional opening day observation sit. I'll do more mid ,10 - 2 sits this year. It will be primarily rut hunt after at least one doe early. If there are big boys around they won't show until then. There is just too much food. Acorns are starting to drop all fruit is crazy loaded, the crop farmer is doubling his beans both soy and a shell bean. Alfalfa and clover fields out number the corn this year. The DEC forecast is correct in fewer older buck this year. Well when you advertise the big buck areas every year and double doe permits ,thats what happens. Looks like great times in 2 yrs though. So I'll spend time in my fall turkey hunting with the cross bow. Select best movement days. Ps. Literally raining beech nuts right now, my car was completely blanketed in them yesterday
