Definitely not Christine but I'll give you my .02... 270 with reduced recoil and/or the managed recoil rounds is very manageable for most kids and is an awesome versatile gun for a youngster to grow into. Having said that the 243 is a heck of a deer gun. Every deer I've gutted that's been shot with one was liquified on its insides. They have something like 8 pounds of felt recoil and shoot laser flat. They will also cleanly take a deer farther than most people have any business shooting. Could get the 243 for her deer gun and use it yourself for coyotes.
