Brett, this is due to our genetic coding. During the times of the cavemen and cavewomen, there was a male of the species by the name of "Ug". Ug had a very (and I mean really freaking) hairy but capable cavewoman wife "Nag". Ug would go out daily and hunt for food for his darling and hairy wife and cave kids. When he got home after a long day of hunting, carrying in a wild boar, (that's where the phrase bringing home the bacon came from) Nag would tell him of the horrible day she has had. She would go on and on about "his" evil offspring and how she was not appreciated. She would yell at him for dripping boar blood all over her freshly swept cave dirt floor and anything else that popped into her brain. Now Ug, in an attempt of keeping the peace, would tell Nag that he would help her around the cave. Of course, he was thinking "I've been hunting all day, I got mauled by a saber toothed jack rabbit, I drag this 500 lb boar 10 miles back to the cave and you say I don't help!", but wanted a little peace and quiet. So, in an effort to keep his little hairy wife happy, he started helping out. Now, the other cavewomen saw what Nag had accomplished and after getting all the details from her, went back to their caves to do the same. When their cavemen husbands heard this, they asked "What do you think you're doing?", they answered, "we're Nagging!". Yep, that's where nagging came from. Anyway, after beating Ug to a pulp for setting a precident, all the cavemen sat down to figure out how they were going to get out of working all day and night. Knowing that if they didn't figure out a solution, the days of sitting back on Sunday afternoons and watching the cave wall paintings were gone forever. After hours of serious neanderthal storming, one of the cavemen "Ast" finally piped in "my woman doesn't have me help." Ug asked "How did you get out of helping in the cave?" Ast said "She says I'm good at bringing home food, but suck at homework." The others hearing of this, went back to their caves and started doing it really crappy. The wives all told them that even Ast could do it twice as good as them, thus coining the term "half ast". The male children didn't have to be told what was going on, they learned this behavior from aping their fathers. Eventually, this behavior became encoded into our genetic code. So now, even though you may want to help, it is in your genes to do it half Ast and even though your wife may be unhappy at first, eventually she will quit nagging and do it herself.
That's this morning's history lesson.

The players in this lesson were completely ficticious and any resemblence to any caveman or woman is purely coincidental.

I do my fair share around the house but how come.....

My wife and I can run the dishes on the same setting, yet the dishes look better after she does them.

My wife and I can do a load of laundry on the same setting using the same detergent, fold them the same way, yet the laundry looks and smells better after she does them.

I can cook the same exact dinner using the same ingredients as my wife, yet dinner tastes better whe she cooks it.

And the examples go on and on.

I cannot figure it out.

Glad your at least giving her a hand with the domestic chores. I'm sure she thinks you wash the car better and mow the lawn better and handle stress better than she does. It's how God intended us but the trick is no take advantage of it. Just because it seems like she's better at it doesn't mean she likes doing it.

I always wash all the dishes and make it a point to do all the laundry when I see it backing up and I also make it my business to sincerely thank her EVERY time she does the laundry and cooks our meals. By doing it myself I know it's work and I make sure she knows I know, and I appreciate her. Our wives are not our mothers and we should never treat them like their our caretakers. It's the road to a very unhappy marriage and life.
