HEre are some pics a friend of mine sent to me. These things are HUGE!! I've run into wolves here in Minnesota, but they got nothing on these brutes. They are supposedly from Idaho, so if Shed is out there, are these things for real?
I'll try and post pic later from home comp. I swear that looks like my dog. He's 3/4 malamute 1/4 artic wolf , last time at the vet he was 240lbs has lost some since we moved (likes chaseing my goats around the pasture)
Interesting hero shots. Is this wolf hero shot similar to the ride-em-cowboy of the deer hunting world?
The vet should check his scales. LOL Now this is a dog. http://b4tea.com/fun/worlds-biggest-dog-hercules-pictures/
I actually like those type of photos for wolves. I have seen the same done for mountain lions as well. While I would certainly make sure to take different photos from different angles where the animal is positioned and portrayed much more respectfully, the pictures posted do give an idea of just how big the animals are compared to the hunter.
Hmmm...I think I understand the comparison you are trying to make, only the photo you describe doesn't look like beastiality. Or like someone just found their long lost dog.
Yes, those pics are real. The fact that these wolves are not like the wolves that used to roam the area is one of the peeves of people who have to deal with them. When I see these [bear hug photos] the first thing I think is.... that you'll get fleas. Tho' the more pressing concern would be catching the potentially fatal hydatid disease those introduced wolves carry.
Gotta be honest I have seen wolves up close in Wisconsin and they look to be the size of the Idaho wolves.
Now that ladies and gentlemen is what a poor photoshopped picture look like. Kid in the back ground in focus, kid in the foreground in focus... but the critter in the middle is out of focus. LOL It isn't a wolf. It's a great big dang doggie.
Yup, that's what we have running around out here. Don't listen to anyone that says that the wolves out here don't get that big either. I live here, I see these animals, I've yet to kill one but have had my hands on a couple 150 plus lbrs... and have witnessed first hand what kind of devastation they can put on 1000lb game animals like bull moose and bull elk... let alone deer. They were purposely bred to b be HUGE in order to handle and survive Idaho's rugged terrain and rough winters. The wolves we have in Idaho today...ARE MUCH LARGER than the original native Idaho wolf. I got a little inside info very few people would know or that wolf humpers would not want "known" out there. Back when they, the FEDs, first started reintroducing the wolves to Idaho, I was working as a teacher on an Indian reservation. I won't name any names. Long story short I had a very close friend that worked for the tribe, he was a B.I.A. COP. The tribe was getting PAID to "grow" these wolf pups that would later be turned loose in the wild. I've stood right next to these breeding pairs and watch them feed the pups... and I was shocked at how big the wolves were. The goal was to match up and breed the biggest and baddest males an females. It is nothing for a wolf to weigh over 150lbs. They are killing/Surviving machines now and that was the goal. It has since backfired horribly on Idaho's Fish and Game Dept. Elk herds have been brutalized by these packs along with other animals...but for whatever reason wolves really love eating elk, elk license sales have declined with the loss of elk populations. Finally after failed attempts by the FISH and GAME to cover up and or keep from letting hunters help take care of the problem... our Governor said enough is enough when the states FISH AND GAME revenue were suffering along with one of our greatest natural resources ELK being hammered... he basically has called for an all out assault on the massive predators allowing hunters to help manage them. We can even trap them now! I'd love to take any flat lander/wolf humper into the woods here and call in a pack of wolves (its very easy to do in good elk country at night, if wolves are in the area, I've done it) They'd chit their pants when they realized the wolves fear basically nothing. From years of being protected. They kill tom mountain lions that try to defend their kills. My hound hunting buddies are finding these lions dead, torn to shreds by wolves. If you come out and want to bowhunt Idaho elk you better pack a side arm, because at any time when elk are vocalizing..there could be or might be wolves lurking real close.. and they will run humans with a bow right off the a kill. I had a friend that killed a 6 pt bull get tree'd by a pack of wolves for several hours while they had their way with his bull elk before they finally left, scared the chit out of him and it was back when he could do nothing about them. He just had to watch them eat on his bull and snarl at him while he was up the tree.
So am I reading correctly... these pictures are real and these really are wolves? I thought they looked like Malamute crosses but I am a southerner, so what do I know? Are all wolves that big?
Great news out of Minnesota recently, the timberwolf will be removed from the federally protected list and back to state control, which means we may actually have a hunting season this year. About 5 years too late if you ask me.
