    KDFWR - News Release

This happened several months back, but all the internet pics making their rounds this hunting season of wolves killed ________ had me go back and see if this one was a hoax or not. Most of my hunting buddies hunt this 3 county area where it was killed and some have claimed they existed before this one was shot, but I blew them off as crazy lol. Pretty crazy since one hasn't even been spotted in the state for over 150 years.

I was surprised they didn't expect any charges filed. I agree, who would think that wasn't a coyote when wolfs aren't supposed to be in the area.

Yeah i always write off these stories including this one that was shot in the spring. I doubt the KDFWR would publish a phony story though, as they put their own credibility on the line in doing so.

Interesting story line though. Black Bears have been making their way west in the commonwealth as well. A friend of mine got trail cam pics of one in Grayson County.

DNA sample showed it was from the great lakes region. I have seen several coyotes in central KY that look like German Shepard's. Parts of Virginia have confirmed wolf/coyote hybrids.
