WOW! 1:30 a.m. And we were both jolted out of bed by a pack of coyote right outside the house. It was at least a couple of adults and a bunch of pups howling and yipping for a long while . I ran down stairs to check on our cat that lives on the porch. She sleeps in front of the door at night. She has a insulated " house " that she uses in winter but its too warm for her in the summer. We lost our 2 outdoor dogs last year and this spring 13 years old ,hips just gave out. Now we know just how well they kept predators away from the house. First bear scat just behind the house, then fox barking up out of the woods to the garage and now a pack of yotes literally outside our windows. Even though they were kenneled at night they would sound off at any intrusion in our woods. In the winter deer would routinely bed near the kennel even when the boys barked, definitely we know why now. I have to say my early morning walks to the stands will have me a bit more on edge.
Funny as we start to prep our house to sell, my wife was complaining that all the screens in our bedroom need to be replaced because of bullet holes or shot gun blasts.
