Why in the heck are illegal immigrants getting child credit checks? Many of them already do not pay any taxes each paycheck. They get paid out in hundred dollar bills from their employer and walk. How do I know? I see it almost everyday I work.
So Roberts voted using his conscience ala emotions, rather than voting using the constitution as his guide?
Rhetorical answers: 1 - Obama-care does nothing to control medical costs. 2 - Businesses with under 50 employees are not impacted by Obama-care. 3 - What happens next? More people (everyone) will be covered by Obama-care starting in 2014, although overall med insurance will cost more too, because it will be covering more people (everyone).
Did not Gearge Bush appoint Roberts? If so then how would he have been involved in picking Bush over gore?
I don't think you are right. Roberts just used a look-through principle to decide that Obama-care (like Romney-care before it) is just another tax, and tax is well within the purview of Congress' power. Roberts has been the most ultraconservative justice on the court. He even voted for GW Bush when that case came to them. So give him credit for that much.
It is NOT another tax and you know that, it is a mandate, and it is also delves into the personal, private, medical arena. To hear of Obama on the radio speaking about FREE Mamograms, free health care check ups, free this, free that.....so where in the heck is all that FREE money going to be coming from each time someone visits the doctor?
The illegals are getting around the social security requirements by getting a TIN (which is like an SSN number but not exactly) and using the TIN to file a tax return and get a refund. The child credit and the earned income credit give tax refunds to really low wage earners. Ask anyone at Wallmart.
I'll answer my own gd question....from people like ME and my wife. We are already stretched thin every darn paycheck.
So now the illegals who are ILLEGAL to begin with are now stealing from the US and are misusing our economic system for personal gain? So they are illegal two times over. That right there should be grounds for deportation. Screw having to commit a violent crime to be deported, steal from the US government and you are gone.
Alright Shadow I am going to be honest with you. I have always felt that it was a disguised tax, and that Pelosi, Reed, and Obama could have saved the nation a lot of grief by simply calling it a health care tax from the beginning, same as the social security tax or the medicare tax. But none of them had the balls to call it a tax. (Pelosi of course being a woman does not have balls, as Johnny Depp would say in Pirates of the Caribbean, regarding Miss Elizabeth Swan, who is indeed actually a woman.) Now the USSC has called it a tax, embarrassing for Pelosi Reed and Obama, and has ruled it constitutional. My feelings are mixed. I think it is good law, but I think they should have called a duck a duck. My fear is actually that Romney can now use this to make yet another promise he cannot keep, to repeal it, in order to get himself elected. And as soon as poor people realize they are going to be paying 2.5% additional taxes starting in 2014 they just might vote for Romney based on his false promises. So this ruling is a two edged sword for Obama. His legacy has survived USSC scrutiny. But it may also hand the election to the greater liar, Romney. The hospitals are going to be the winners in all this. They will finally be paid for giving emergency room care to everyone.
He did not get on the supreme court until 2005, I cannot see how he ever made a decision on Bush v gore, especially since he worked for Bush during Bush v gore.
Yes. This will be a negative on the economy and jobs as those small businesses will not hire for fear of getting over the 50 employee limit.
Yup there will be a really big difference for that #50th newhire. In that sense it will stunt small business growth.
Not to mention that alot of companies will drop coverage for there employees as at the beginning the fine (aka tax) is alot cheaper than the pokicies for the employees.
Oops sorry I am thinking of another case. My mistake. My feeble mind was thinking of Citizens United. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_United_v._Federal_Election_Commission
This is what everyone seems to be afraid of, yes. But I think this is inevitable anyway. With health care getting more and more expensive, more and more companies are going to be forced by earnings reports to drop employee medical coverage anyway, and now in 2014 and beyond just pay the Federal penalty, which will probably be less.
More people won't get insurance though. They pay less simply by paying the federal tax penalty. So those already covered by insurance will have higher medical costs, since insurance companies cannot dump them anymore, and insurance companies will therefore incur more mosts, which will need to be passed on. It's complicated. Economics always is.
