Hey everybody, don't know if you remember but almost 2 weeks ago I had posted a tactacam video of a shot I had taken at a buck on our land. The arrow had terrible flight and didn't penetrate at all. I had assumed the buck had lived because of all the searching we did, with hardly any blood or sign to go off of. We then did end up seeing the same deer cross the road into our property just a couple days ago, so that was awesome to see! The poor arrow flight is something I did not realize at first, and because of your advice I spent the next week tuning my bow, shooting my bow, and buying new broad heads that I felt had a more consistent flight compared to my old ones. I then went and hunted Friday November 1st and had a chance at redemption...

Right at first light I look to my left and spot this buck walking only 10 yards to my left, and moving quickly. I grabbed my bow and drew, stopped him with an "mehh" and saw his vitals were hidden by a branch! I held my draw and waited for him to take a few more steps and gave him another "mehh" he then was stopped, in the open, only 15 yards away. I took my time, settled my pin, squeezed the release and THWACK! He only made it about 100 yards and piled up.

He's no monster, but for only my second buck on our 40 acres I couldn't be happier!

Thanks to all who helped me learn from my first mistake, as a result I have a tag on my best buck to date!

Good for you for being mature enough to take constructive criticism and make some adjustments. It obviously paid off big time! Congrats...

Always feels good to get one on the ground especially when something goes wrong the time before.
