I only have public land to hunt right now so I'm taking what I can get this year. I'm primarily just looking for meat as well.
Im originally from WI but have lived in NC for the last 4 years and am finally moving back to WI next month most likely to Rock Cty so Ill be researching like a mad man until I get some idea of some public land and idk a mricale comes along and I find somewhere to hunt. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
going to be pretty windy tomorrow but also cold hoping the deer will be on there feet. good luck and be safe,
Hey guys first time on here from waukesha, and only 3rd year hunting. Ive only been able to hunt public so far this year and just wondering how everyone season is going so far? I have only seen a hand full of does over 80 yards away and one fork buck that was about 55 yards out.
October is a busy month for me so I wont be getting back into a tree until Halloween weekend. Once that weekend hits, I'm hitting it HARD tho! I'll be in a tree at least 4 days out of the 7 day week for the first 3 weeks in Nov.
Was out in some public out in Waukesha Saturday night and Sunday morning. Didn't see a thing. Cameras i put up need a close rub spot and a trail showed a small 6pt and does around 3:30 AM - 4:30 AM. Hard to hunt this place. tons of squirrel hunters and some duck hunters at a near by pond.
going out in the morning, i put a dripper out last weekend with a camera , curious to see if anything has been checking it out, good luck if anyone is going out and be safe
Got out this past weekend. Saw nothing on Saturday but set up in a different location Sunday and saw great rut action! Saw a buck chasing a doe as I was halfway up the tree. Got settled in and the buck cruised back thru. Unfortunately he was about 40 yards outside of bow range.
I was out last weekend Saturday morning, saw 1 doe and 2 little bucks , about 930 3 guys came out to set a stand , went home , Saturday afternoon went to a different stand saw lots of action , a busk raking his horns on brush and branches , snort weasing , grunting , chased a doe out of the brush stood about 40 yards , another buck came in and they did a stand off , the doe ran off with 1 buck following , the other buck wandered around , I used my can call he turned and came back toward s me then went in the brush and chased out another doe , Sunday morning uneventful, afternoon saw a doe with a spike , later on I had six yearlings and does come in 10 yards all together
Still coming up short so far this season with a big goose egg. Couple buddies of mine all have bucks down. I gotta catch up!
I pulled my last cam on Sunday. I forgot to turn it on five days ago when I last checked it so I do not know what went by but the scrapes had been refreshed what looked like the last 24 hours. There is about 8 inches of snow in the woods.
