I'm in NE Iowa. I've seen bucks cruising last week. Last weekend bucks responded to rattling. Saw 8 point buck chasing does yesterday night. I would say it is on. Friday should be good IMO. Good luck.

I'm in SW Wisconsin and saw a buck chasing a doe 11/4 and had a buck following above a doe 11/7. I had a separate buck come in after calling a little to the buck and doe. The buck and doe came back to an estrous can call. I think we are on the brink of serious movement. I am getting more big boys moving on the cameras.

I was up in Black River Falls all last week and I would say they are definitely in full rut. I saw a buck chasing does last Saturday. I never have had any luck with calls so I dont know about that part, but now is the time to get out there. Unfortunately I have to stay home with the kids this weekend while my wife is out of town for the weekend. Where abouts in southern WI are you? I am from Beloit. Good Luck!

It has been a strange year as far as the rut goes here in Wisconsin. I hunt the hillsboro area and there hasnt been much activity (deer movement) when i thought there would be alot. I think with the weather staying warm the rut hasnt really hit fully swing yet. Hopefully it will pick up during rifle season and maybe after that. That is my prediction.

It really started rocking Monday, from the guys who are hunting this week. Johnny rattled in 8-10 different bucks on Monday and they have had a ton of chasing going on this week.

Unlike you, I hope its over before Saturday rolls around. Last thing I want to see is an absolute slaughter.

I spent a ton of time in the woods between october 27th and November 13th and there was no rut taking place in Northeast/Central WI. Was very depressing.

I heard the Wisconsin rut is so hot right now, that bucks have resulted in dude-on-dude action.

Had off from the 10-16th, hunted 4 all day sits, with the rest morning, and then an hour or two out of the woods then back at it (couple days it was just a walk back to the truck and a quick drive over to the other side of the property)

Had rut type activity sat/sun, the rest of the time it was a lot of little bucks wandering around looking lost, with lots of does and fawns, early and late.

    Hunting in Waupaca County

Seems like if there was going to be ANY activity it had to be below 40degrees, anything warmer than that and all that was out were fawns.

Goofy, tough year of sitting out there. I know there are some nice ones out there, but outside of that sat/sun, they weren't to be seen......

It's very ironic that you say that Dan. The best buck (8pt), the only shootable deer I've seen all season, I saw on Nov 14th at 18yrds! The really SAD part is our antlered archery season ended on the Nov 12th, and all I could do was watch him walk past.

    Hey Man,

I'm with you where I didn't see any rut movement in the past couple of weeks. Until Monday when I had my 8 Pointer move through. He had his noise to the ground and almost walked away til I called him back. I have been grunting and rattling for the past 2 weeks and haven't gotten any response. Also I've noticed yesterday taking out my stand a bunch of large scrapes that were nearly new. I believe by me in central wisco that the rut is peaking right now.

I hunt sw wisconsin and i first started seeing rut activity oct 23. It has been pretty hit-n-miss one day i have bucks in the foodplot w does like they dont exist the next they are running does like crazy.
On 14th big mature buck tending a doe. Not all does go into estrous at the same time but, ya strange rut to say the least.

The last week of October was insane in our area for activity. We saw a 3.5 year old buck running a doe 50 yards from a road and 100 yards from a shed, also saw a giant 150 class 8 pointer locked down with a doe. Halloween morning my uncle saw a stud 4.5 year old droptine buck we know locked down with a doe. Other than that, we haven't seen much for bucks cruising or chasing.

Also A buddy of mine saw 4 different bucks in the same afternoon in Spirit Falls Wisco. I believe 3 were spikes and an average 8 point which he couldn't get a shot. He said he called to it but it was on a mission so it disappeared in the brush. A couple days later he had another 8 point at 3 oclock in the afternoon walk past his stand. Too bad he wasn't on that stand that he had to catch it on his game cam. lol
