Use what you want, but no two weapons are the same.
Why use a scope on a cross bow? Just handi cap yourself and use a real gun with iron sights. :nana:

    So....let's get the legislation going......

Bare hands killing of deer type game is the only legitimate way where there is no marked advantage....

    -Spear.....soooo unfair
    -Sling shot....c'mon now! :tu:
-Long bow or recurve.....such an advancement over the sling shot and spear.....are ya kidding?! :p
-Compound bow.....uh you hold less after you draw...so much more unfair than a long bow or recurve....duh! :hail:
-Muzzleloader......patched round ball, flint lock, percussion cap....ooooh no they're all advantages!! Even more so over a bow! :woot:
-In-Line Muzzleloader....c'mon what came first the chicken or the egg...NO WAY on this one!! :throw:
-Shotgun.....no way...there wouldn't be a deer left after those!! :hater:
-Rifle.......stop the INSANITY!! I mean really....does someone need to shoot something 5 miles away?!?! :busted:

Yep, the crossbow doesn't have a place either.........LOL :violin:

Absolutely comical I tell ya!! :nana:

    Next agenda.....FISHING

    -No metal hooks........
    -No dynamite.........

    Should I keep going?!?! LOL!!

A scope has Zero effect on accuracy of the weapon, all it allows for is a more precise sight picture.
Also aid people with deteriorating vision.
Personally I'm in favor of people taking the best shot possible on live game, if they require the aid of magnified optics so be it.
Just be sure to leave your binoculars and range finder in the truck, because you'd of never seen that deer or been able to get his range that quick.

It seems the tradition of bow hunting is on its way out. To me that's sad but it is what it is in today's world of bow hunting. I didn't want to except it at first but I've came to grips with it now. Some people laugh at me when they see my recurve. 2 of the most common comments I hear are-

    Get with the times!
    Where's your release?

The above comments piss me off. There are so many bow hunters who have never heard of a finger tab. I tell these people who make the comments I listed above that if I want to pull a trigger I'll muzzleloader hunt.

To each there own on what you want to hunt with but get some knowledge and have some respect on where/what bow hunting once was before making asinine comments.

Also my 6 year old daughter is pulling back a 16 pound recurve with ease. Long before she's 10 years old she will easily be able to pull back the minimum draw weight for bow hunting. Like anything in life its called practise and learning. Like I said use what you want but I don't want to hear the BS excuses to justify using something. Be honest instead and be proud.

Here we go again! I heard/read these SAME EXACT arguements when Penna first allowed crossbows. This too, shall pass. lol
I hunt with both, compound until just before Christmas, then CB for the late season. For the record, a compound has the upper hand over a CB on longer shots, because a bolt doesn't maintain a flat trajectory for as long as an arrow will. This is just one of those subjects where people are not going to agree with each other's thinking. If it's legal, hunt as you please.

I am going to throw out my opinion on the subject. I think the reason why people are getting so mad over the cross bow subject are really just worried about the possibility of more hunters in the woods taking more deer, that were normally reserved for a smaller group of hunters (using compound bows). Everyone always jokes about the orange army every year when rifle season rolls around. I think this is kind of the same thing more idiots in the woods at a time of year that used to be reserved for bow hunters only. When KS changed the law the barber shop talk made it seem like bow season was going to be like rifle season. Turns out this season was just like any other. Most of the new crossbow carrying people didn't even get out and hunt like they thought they would. I agree with the statement earlier about how there will be a lot of used crossbows for sale in the near future.

With all do respect I have to disagree , while you may have run into a select group of ignorant individuals.
I find the very opposite to be true, most have the utmost admiration for traditional bow hunters.
And more often than not people come from compounds to traditionalist , same as many of us were gun hunters first then archery hunters.
People move from more advanced equipment to more the more traditional equipment for the increased challenge.
It is definitely something I will definitely try at some time after my knowledge of bow hunting increases and the challenge decreases of my current hunt.

No doubt I hear kind comments as well but the other comments far out weigh the good ones. On forums like this its all good but off the forums its different. I've been hunting with a recurve only for 17 years. Trust me I've heard allot and seen allot.

I think you're 100% correct on this. I used to think this until enough time went by, and I learned it just isn't the case! I hunt Public land almost exclusively, that's how I learned differently.

I hunted with a crossbow for the first time this year. Didn't kill a thing.

Though I know of at least one situation where I could have taken a doe with a crossbow but didn't because I had my compound.

At 20 yards what magical power does a croosbow offer that you cant do with a compound now if you would have said 40-60 yards compound versus well dialed in crossbow with alot of practice time then I would understand

Me personally it's more industry driven and all about the $$$. Their are no crossbow groups currently here in Wisconsin that I know of so who could be driving this behind the scenes. With that being said I'm for it.

I could care less what legal device a person hunts with. Its none of my business and honestly really isn't worth worrying about.

It's the simple FACT that you don't have to draw a CB, it's already cocked. At 20 yrds you're much more likely to get busted drawing a compound bow back, than simply pointing a CB and pulling a trigger. That's the "magical power".
