I'm going to shoot at least a doe with a crossbow maybe even a buck if the opportunity presents itself.

I think this has a big part in it I think, people are already having a tough time trying to find land or keep the land they have so allowing more people to hunt means more people in the woods and possibly less land for someone to hunt. Which then brings jealousy and or selfishness.

Not lately Steve, that was late season 2010. I did kill a nice doe about 3 weeks ago though.

I call it an AR15.... A simple google search will show you what AR actually stands for. And it's not assualt rifle 15.

For the record I don't own a crossbow. But who knows.... Maybe someday I will. What other people choose to hunt with has nothing to do with me.

Actually no. It's never crossed my mind that shooting a deer with a crossbow is any easier than a compound and to be honest, having done both I'd prefer to take the compound out. It's lighter, easier to carry, and easier to hold steady. Also, trying to get a 2nd shot at an animal from a treestand with a crossbow is pretty much impossible should the need arise.

However I do chose to hunt with a crossbow for several other reasons.

    1. Because I want to see what it's like. Unlike some people I prefer to base my opinions on experiences and truth rather than fantasies and illusions.
    2. Because I can.
    3. To upset the anti-crossbow people.

I never said they were solely in Wisconsin. I'm talking about nation-wide in all of the areas where people with sound reasoning are debating the fear mongering masses of anti-crossbow folks. Unfortunately their absurd arguments aren't limited only to the Badger state.

Here in VA our population is up and hunter numbers are down. We need more deer killed.....bring on the crossbow hunters as I am sick of dodging deer as I drive everyday!

What the heck are u readin. Where do u live shall I Ask. Virginia's deer numbers are based of the east. They don't realize how bad it is here in the west side of the state. Tags need to be cut back doe days need to be cut out and take guns out of November PERIOD

This thread gave me a good laugh... There is absolutely no argument to be had on this topic, yet so many people are getting EXTREMELY butt hurt.

Funny that you insinuate that you are of sound reasoning and anyone that is not in favor of crossbows is a fear monger because they dont agree with your point of view.

I know I've had some pretty heated conversations over the years with some on here about them. I'm slowly coming around to some extent with them. They have zero impact on me, as I won't use one unless it was my last resort to be able to physically be able to hunt in archery season.

The concerns I have with them will always be there, but they're just that, concerns. The fact that, and I've seen a couple of comments on this thread about it already, it will allow more people to archery hunt that otherwise aren't physically capable of shooting a compound, recurve or longbow, far outweighs the negatives that I see.

My only requests is that all record keeping maintains the archery tackle seperations. There is no way in mind that a crossbow kill should be lumped in with the other bow kills in terms of recorded records.

What impact does a person using a crossbow over a compound bow have on you and your hunting situation? Just curious.
