I thought we were talking about hunting not 3D shoots. I respect your opinion and your right not to use one but why should I not be able to use one because you don't like them? I don't see a great advantage with using a crossbow in a 3D people miss all the time.

Is there a different class for recurve bows? Different class for bows with sights or using a release? Yes, because some might say that some of those things create an advantage. So what if there is an advantage? Its your choice to use any type of bow. Why even compare the two?

I'd like to hunt with hand grenades. Since they're thrown by hand they should be allowed during archery season. RPG's are fired from the shoulder therefore they should only be allowed during rifle season. It's my right.

Love ya man, but this is so far removed from reality that it really has no bearing on the conversation. Cross bows are another type of bow, period. They store energy in the limbs and propel an arrow from a string. How does their use threaten anyone? I have yet to hear a single well thought out reason for all the opposition. Seriously, why should they NOT be allowed during bow season? Convince me with sound logic.

By the way, I do not own a crossbow and it would not be my choice of weapon unless physical disability demanded it.

Prove what point? He said it wouldn't be his personal preference. He has no problem what others' personal preferences are.

I'm with Dave, JZ and the others....there isn't one ounce of sound logic against crossbows in this thread.

Basically, people are upset that crossbows allow more people to hunt, thus putting more pressure on "their" deer. Therefore people oppose crossbows.

If it isnt easier then why do you use one during second season? Maybe because you can just point and shoot and not have to worry about pulling back and having a much better chance of the deer seeing movement or making noise?

So now there are tens of thousands of hunters in Wisconsin that are lobbying for crossbows. Wow, this is the first I have heard of it and I live and hunt in WI.

I'm going to shoot a deer in WI next year with a crossbow. Why? Because I can. I'll probably shoot one with a compound too. Why? Because I can. How will my actions affect anyone around me? They won't.

I look forward to seeing who the haters are around me when I do it. It'll separate the rational people from the irrational ones.

Maybe he just enjoys it and likes switching it up. Who are the people having so much trouble drawing their bow on deer? Can we get a thread going with some tips and suggestions because apparently it is almost impossible to accomplish.

I honestly can't understand the arguments against crossbows. Probably because I have never done well with opinions based on emotion/personal feelings rather than facts & logic. Backstrap had it right. This IS a waste of time, not too many folks changing their mind here. Lets hope those that in real life thos that oppose it don't discourage or belittle too many folks in that want to give it a go in the states that allow it.

I just pointed out there are differences and advantages between cross bow and a compound. Same thing could be said about every other Weapon.

So what if its easier? Really, so what. How does that have any bearing at all on whether or not they should be allowed?

Because honestly, the only reason I can see is jealousy of having to share the woods. Is there any other valid reason to oppose the crossbow? Some guys will try them as a novelty. Others will use them as a necessity. All will find that they are not a "magic bullet". Most guys that take the "easy" route with false expectations will soon become bored with it. No biggie.

I got it...a solution to all our problems. Those who are against it, just stop hunting. The sport is getting ruined by this rule which you oppose. Show you're against by removing yourself from the sport altogether. Go hit the rivers fishing, pick up bowling or golfing. You will no longer have to deal with the ridiculous state hunting has become and can rest easier knowing you no longer have to worry about it.

An AR15...semi-automatic rifle...but not an assault rifle, both are a "gun" though. :)

A crossbow is not a compound and a compound is not a recurve...but all are under the umbrella of "bows".
