Here is an e-mail I received from the DNR. This is important to give input on the potential season changes that are imminent to replace EAB. Don’t be complacent! Take the survey and let your voice be heard. Otherwise we may get something as bad or worse than EAB jammed down our throats.

A committee appointed by the Natural Resources Board to develop acceptable effective alternatives to earn-a-buck has developed several packages of possible deer hunting season structure changes. Citizens can offer input to the proposals through an online survey beginning July 25 at noon. After this round of surveys, a final report will be delivered to the Natural Resources Board for consideration.

Who should respond...anyone who has an interest in the Wisconsin deer herd! Send the following link below to anyone you know who may want to respond: www.wiherdcontrol.org

This survey will begin this Saturday, July 25 at noon and continue through noon on Tuesday, July 28.

Link to idea's that the DNR PROPOSES

At first glance one idea I really like is starting the archery season September 1st. That would be

Honestly, I do not see that EAB is that big of a deal. I do not mind because I shoot a doe every year.

What I do care about is the mismanagement and misinformation from the Wisconsin DNR. Also, Wisconsin DNR should realize that all the hunting in the world will not get rid of CWD. There are many gun hunters here and they all go out opening weekend and that is about it. It is the archery hunters that are more active in hunting and management but those in charge fail to see that. for this reason I participate in these things and town meetings.

I have to agee with you for the most part. I believe that if the DNR wanted to get rid of the deer why you would have to earn a buck. If they would let people shoot what walks by first( a shooter buck) then have to earn a buck after that. Or something like that.

And that is fine if you have no problem with it. That is your opinion. I think the important thing is that you should take this survey to give your opinion on what should be the alternative. Because the next thing they propose you MAY have a problem with. Don’t keep your opinion to yourself!!

Oh I let the DNR have my opinion, you can believe that. I also get to the town meetings too. We have got to make our voices heard. Thanks for the info though.

Took the survey. My point was in the questionaire.

Hunters are authorized to harvest their first buck per year (bow or firearm) without EAB requirements, authorization for an additional buck requires harvesting a doe first (bow or firearm). For example a person with a valid bow hunting license could shoot their first buck with a bow, then shoot a doe (with a bow or firearm and the license for the weapon they choose to use) and then be authorized to harvest a second buck (using either a bow or a firearm and the license for the weapon they choose). Similarly, a person with a valid firearm license could shoot their first buck with a firearm then shoot a doe (with firearm or bow and the license for the weapon they choose to use) and then be authorized to harvest a second buck (using either a bow or a firearm and the license for the weapon they choose). Weapons must be used during the appropriate weapon-specific seasons.
