You guy's are forgetting that some agent was out there to get evidence before the 9 guys went there to dispatch the fawn that was harmful to humans. What a crock of crap doing good has no end in the eye of the government. Must protect the people from themselves.

The article I read stated arrangements had been made to send it to an Illinois shelter . It was to have gone the day after the raid took place.
I honestly hope the press runs wild with this .Seems like a bunch of over kill , waste of money and I do not see why they had to kill it.

I think Spook Spann planned this in retaliation. Look how he turned everybody against the government.

There has to be more to the story. I'm thinking the DNR got some bad information, and thought there was a lot more going on there. I can't see that kind of surveillance and manpower for a fawn?
Reading the comments, there are some pissed off people out there.

We had some agents here try to serve a search warrant today on a guy and he opened fire...they shot him once and he limped off and killed himself. Crap goes bad sometime even when you don't expect it.

My point is, maybe they got bad intel an thought they were dealing with something much larger.

I agree Brett, has to be much more to the story. DNR's all over the country get tips about people having a pet deer. A couple of officers stop by, take it, maybe issue a ticket.

Honestly I can't stand that shelter at all. Me, my step dad, and a local cop use to goose hunt right next to that place and they would come out harass the chit out of us back in the 90's. Rather then start a fire storm the cop with us just kept us calm and we still managed to get our geese after they mellowed.
As for the fawn I am like ferg kind of shocked that Jen let it go that far. I'm going shoot an email off to our former DNR officer and get his take on it. Their has to be more to this.

Yep he is a cop and made a manpower mobilization mistake....he must be fired. No one else in any job makes a mistake and keeps their job, no one.

Or maybe they just had nothing better to do than to be nosey and take part in something that was "out of the ordinary".

That's how it would work here.

Anyways, killing the fawn was rediculous and should have never happened. There's a time when common sense has to come into play in everything.

They went there with intel from someone. Whoever made the call to go in like they did should have a price to pay. Last i checked this wasn't Nazi Germany and it was a fawn.

    UPDATE:
[h=3]Walker vows to avoid repeat of Giggles killing[/h]Published 10 hours agoMADISON (AP) - Gov. Scott Walker says he has ordered top officials in his administration to study ways to avoid another situation like the one that led to euthanizing a fawn from a no-kill shelter.

The fawn, named Giggles, was brought to the Saint Francis Society shelter in Kenosha County by an Illinois family who believed the animal had lost its mother. But state Department of Natural Resources officials took the animal from the shelter and euthanized it, saying state law required it to prevent the spread of disease.

What price? They thought they had something bigger. Minus Giggles getting the axe, what else did they do wrong? And even Giggles getting the axe was by the book. I swear cops can do things not by the book and you guys cry foul and they then do things exactly by the book and you still cry foul. Bottom line, everyone wants things done the way they want, myself included.

What if the deer's name was Lucifer, was missing one eye, and had some form of deer sickness that may spread. Would it be ok to go into that no kill animal place and take out that deer?
