so this stupid 4 day gun doe only season has started up today again after one was in oct and the total deer that i have seen in the 5 days so far is.... 0 does 7 bucks. Not to mention that 2 of the days i had the buck of my lifetime ten god damn yards away. TWICE now i had to watch this monster give me the finger as the wisconsin dnr doesnt know what there doing... they want the deer dead but they have these stupid doe only seasons.... not to mention i started seeing deer then gun season came now this week i started seeing deer and stupid gun season again... so FRUSTRATED sorry i had to vent i cant believe this happened to me twice in one year..

Every state deals with gun seasons, down south some gun seasons seem to go on forever. I think Wisconsin bowhunters have it pretty easy, early start, goes fairly late, short gun season, a few doe only hunts but we did have a state with a deer population problem in the early 2000's. Hunters love to complain, if it wasn't the DNR it would be something else.

I look forward to the elimination of the 4 day doe hunts. The October one just kills me. A week or two before the rut just sucks. The last 9 years of earn a buck hasnt helped either. Although the deer herd is def healthier, and bucks are getting bigger at a younger age, it sure was fun seeing A LOT of deer each night. Now that EAB is gone, hopefully we will have a few good winters and our herd will get back up to a "fun" stage once again.

It depends what you see as fun. To me having big healthy bucks reaching max potential is fun, not seeing 10-20 does a night with a few dink bucks now and then, I liked earn a buck regulations.

yea i know what you mean. I think the EAB rules def made the herd healthier. "We" as a state need to find a way to have a happy medium. Where I hunt the bucks were always big. Just seems that now they are about a year ahead of where they use to be. So either way works for me but I love seeing 40 deer a night.

Shoot in South Carolina (Where im located) bow season starts sep 15 then muzzy Oct 1 then gun season Oct 15 through the end of the season. So your lucky you have all that time for bow hunting. I bow hunt into gun season but its boom about every 30 min

EAB is gone. Soon the herd will balloon again. Then I think we are looking at doe only seasons for a year or two. Honestly, I hope we do, our bucks will really have a chance to put some age on them.

Our DNR has made some mistakes for sure, however they do an awful lot of good and have accomplished a lot.

I am from Alabama and our gun season runs from the saturday before thanksgiving until January 31. Isnt that ridiculous. Thats over 2 months. No wonder our deer dont grow as big down here. Atleast we can bowhunt during gun season.....as long as we have our pumpkin suit on.
