At our cabin I've had a trail camera hidden to take pictures of any tresspassers, thiefs or noisy neighbors and such. I want to know who is coming and going. One problem with that is if you have a theif and they spot the camera they will just steal the camera and you have nothing.

I was thinking about getting a wireless trail camera that instantley sends the picture to you when it takes a picture. That way if the thief takes the camera you still have the evidence and know something is up. Combine it with a lockable box and I think it would be a pretty good security system.

I know nothing about these other than they use cell coverage to send the pics. We have decent cell coverage at the cabin from all the carriers.

Anyone have any experience with these?
Which ones are good or bad?
How much does it cost monthly?
If I pay the monthly service fee for the camera by the cabin can I have additional cameras on the food plots that would also be able to send picks with that same monthly fee? Say I get 1000 pictures per month for a monthly fee. Then can I have multiple cameras sending with that 1000 pictures?

I think they start around $10/mo and go up from there. I've thought about it, but never been pushed over the teetering point. I love the idea though.

I have a friend of a friend that has one of the coverts that does this. The problem I have w. it is the resolution of the pictures that it emails. Way lower quality than what you get on the chip for obvious reasons, but I would say they were low enough in quality that you might have trouble identifying your trespasser anyway. I love the concept, and maybe one day they will be ready for prime time, but I don't think they are just yet.

I thought about getting one a couple of times but I hate monthly bills. What I have done is leg bolt a dummy camera to a tree with a lock on it and put a good camera up high behind the dummy camera. BUSTED.

Yeah I thought about that as well. But I'm lazy and hate the thought of having to drag the ladder out and go up the tree everytime.

One other thing is that if somethign happens you know about it right away. Rather than maybe not knowing for a few weeks till you get up there.

Best case is put the wireless camera up high over a dummy. Big time busted.

The cell kind like Covert or some other manufacturers make would make the most sense. You could set up additional one's in the area as well just in case it gets spotted. At least you'd know right away that something is going on and could contact the local authorities. Another thought is the Spypoint Tiny series of cameras that have a separate storage unit that can be concealed somewhere. Would help you with putting the camera up high and the storage device could be where you can access it easy. Would only have to get up there to change batteries if needed.

I'd forget the trail camera and just get some security cameras and a DVR.
I have them at my home and can a look at them live anywhere in the world and the service cost nothing. Just get an IP address.
Some with also send you email or text once a camera is triggered. Of course you need power.
My DVR store up to 30 days of 24/7 recordings so I can go back up to a month to check them.

I just cut all my hedges way down to get them to thicken up. White fly down here is putting a hurting on them:(

I don't have grid power electricity at the cabin. I only have a generator.
