I was wanting to know what company's make wireless cameras and who has any experience with them. We have problems with trespassers around my neck of the woods. It truly surprises me what hunters will do when rifle season opens. We have people driving in and out of our hunting property while our trucks are parked there and its obvious we're hunting!! Just in the last 2 years we've had to run at least 7-8 people off and thats just when we're there. So I can only imagine what kind of traffic we have going in and out of there during the night time when no one is there. I don't have the time or energy to babysit the property 24hrs a day. Every year we have large bucks just disappear and are never seen again. I finally have had enough and told my dad we should invest in a couple of wireless cameras and put them at both entrances of the property. I know we could use regular cameras but the thought of wireless cams sending txt as they take the photos would help so I could possibly drive down and catch them red handed since we have the luxury of being only about 5 minutes away. I figure its cheap insurance on a somewhat expensive hunting lease. Sorry for the rant and getting off topic, it's just frustrating it only takes a few dumb hunters to ruin it for the rest of us that follow the rules and pay to lease or own the ground we hunt.
I looked at Buckeye cams last year, looked like they had the best setup. Lots of options for what you are wanting though. About all the major companies make them now.
If you do invest in one or more of these expensive cams, I would make sure you're VERY CAREFUL of where/how you hang them. Sounds like these guys are brazen! Where is your "neck of the woods"?
I have a Covert Code Black G3 camera and it works pretty well. It uses GSM cards so AT&T or T-Mobile. The easiest thing is to get a Go-Phone set it up and then pull the SIM from that and stick in the camera. The camera has two bars and I get the pictures usually within 5 minutes if not sooner. The good thing about them is that if you set a code the only way to reset it and use the camera is to ship it back to Covert. You can find them for about $300 on amazon and the AT&T service plans run around $25 a month. Only down side I have had is when it gets cold it eats batteries.
My buddy and I had several trespassers and things getting stolen so we placed a Black 60 at the gate about 20 feet high thinking it would never be spotted. Wrong! It was spotted about two months later and shot off with a shotgun from the looks of the camera mount.
I ran two Spypoint Live cellular cameras all year and loved it. Send me a message and I'll give you a break down of the performance if you want.
