Had the chance to fish with some friends last Saturday. The type of friends I don't get to spend nearly enough time with, even though we don't live that far apart. Life gets in the way. We normally fish in December and January, but this year we had to settle for early March. Mother Nature was kind enough to make it feel and look like our normal winter trips. Fresh snow makes for a nice river setting. Lots of whitetails seeking shelter in the cedars. Purple got no love. But some fish were hooked. And some were landed. Won't be long before the snow is gone for the season.
Dave - Thanks. The days on the water after a fresh snow are some of my favorite. John - I'm counting the days. Can't wait to get up there!
Do any good? One of these years I will make it out west to trout fish. #20 are slightly smaller than the musky flies I've been tying lately.
I caught a few nice browns... I'm gonna go strip some wooly buggers later this week. I have a hard enough time keeping a #20 in a big trout's mouth, can't imagine a tiny fly in a hard lipped muskie!!! If you want to come fish out West... you just let me know!
