I know I am a little late but I am just now getting closed on the land I bought. It's 40 acres heavy wooded with about 100x50 food plot cut in the center of it. The previous owner had planted cow beans that are just completely ate up by the deer so I was wanting to plant something back for this winter and hope it makes, there is winter wheat already popping up from where he planted last year. The outside edge of the field needs to be planted. Any suggestions would be great thanks guys. What I had thought was winter peas/clover.

Oh the land is in central Oklahoma caddo county

Don't think you could ever hurt with some winter rye.

Give any Brassica a try. It will get going and as long as it don't get real cold it'll give you a pretty good stand.
