Little bit I've got to watch has been good. Too bad for the snow boarder chick from the USA. Her bad luck continues. Last night In Mens figure skating was quite the upset with USA taking gold over the Russian.
I like some of the traditional events and some of the new ones. I consider them "events", not "sports". I don't get caught up in who's an athlete and who's not. Heck, people call nascar and poker "sports". If driving a car makes you an athlete, then I suppose rolling a rock on the ice makes you one too. I definitely enjoy some of the new events. I like watching something I know I could never do and only a few in the world can do really well. I guess that makes me one of today's "weirdo kids".
You don't like any Olympic events, Jim? You don't route for the USA? I knew all Texans were secretly Communists.
I think they should take out mens figure skating. I wouldn't watch that if I was paid ... lol. I like the rest though, new, old, doesn't matter to me.
Yep definitely get rid of the mens figure skating, pairs too for that matter. At the very least don't show it for hours at a time on the only TV station that covers the olympics.
I actually really do enjoy watching curling, though it's a very long game. Only because both my parents play, and I've played before, it's a very tough game. Tons of strategy involved.
Yeah I didnt' know what it was called. It does look pretty cool. I watched quite a bit of it. I can't hold a gun steady after just sitting there doing nothing. That must be pretty hard.
i LOVE the games. winter and summer! dont really care to watch the "new" events much but, heck more power to em'!!!!! just like watching athletes do stuff i cant do... and now-a-days thats just about anything!
I really enjoy watching pretty much all of the events. Figure skating I could do without though. I watch more of the snowboarding and skiing events then anything else. I mean, watching someone (White) pull a double mctwist 1260, on a run where he didn't even have to do any tricks because the gold was already his, is absolutely amazing.
I have been watching them. I like the winter more so than the summer. Hockey is number one for me, then the skiing and snowboarding events. I hate, HATE figure skating. And of course they slap this on primetime on NBC every stinking night, meanwhile they have women's curling going into overtime on CNBC and preempting the Canadian hockey game. Now you tell me what has a lager following, women's curling, pairs figure skating, or international hockey featuring tons of NHL players. NBC has made a mess of the coverage imo.
Snowboarding is probably my favorite to watch. Gotta give credit where credit is due, and Shaun White is far and above way better than any of the other competitors in the freestyle.
